Help Notification sounds - only works occasionally

Wake up phone, plenty of email and ebay notifications, NO notification sounds  this seems to happen all hours but mostly early morning, for the record I do get notification sounds but not all the time. Is there something missing i haven't checked, the volume and ebay notification settings are on. FWIW I don't use Juice Defender (used it, now disabled). Thanks for input :)

try using ringdroid.. its in the market. works for me

I believe apps like gmail, google voice, and some others have individual settings that when you get a new message, the ringtone will happen, but if you get multiple new notifications, it will group them together as one notification so its not constantly ringing the phone.

neptik, thanks.

Shmack, I notice the grouping and delay of notification tones, however other tiimes it rings instant. I wish it was more predictable. One thing was I noticed the phone is quiet after midnight.

One other thing, ever since disabling Juice Defender the phone works better and syncs more often, and then the LCD broke  another topic another thread

Juice defender shuts off all data (wifi and 3G) when the screen is off.

you should get no notifications until you turn the screen on and it connects and start syncing. but sometimes it doesnt automatically sync immediately after connecting, thats why there are times where youll turn the screen on and not see any notifications, but get them awhile later even though the times on them say you should have got them before.

I have JD set up to sync every 30 min when the screen is off. Even if my screen isn't turned on.

hmm... weird, I've had notification sounds with the screen off (locked)when I had JD on 'balanced', it was the default setting as I never played with the any JD settings. However with JD off, I'm got more notification sounds however some incoming Gmails did not trigger the sounds.

JD doesn't always work that way. You can set it up to sync/ping with the screen off, and you will get notifications then.
