Help Notification tone from Unknown App

David Gonzo

Lurker
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. I am getting a continual notification tone from an unknown app. I've downloaded the Notification History App but it shows nothing. I've looked at all "Running" apps and don't see any app that would be sending me a tone. NFC is off.

Without being able to hear the tone, I'm kind of at a loss to help you... my first instinct would be the "charge required" tone, but you have probably already charged your phone.

Just to clarify;

Continuous tone?

Or

Repeating notification sound? (And if so, use it the same as your default notification sound?)

It is the tone that I had selected as the "Default notification sound under Settings/Sound and notification/Ringtones and sounds/Default notification sound, which is the Postman bell sound. I use a different ringtone for calls and calendar, and have it turned off for email notifications, as well as Facebook notifications.

At random times throughout the day, the Postman ringtone rings, but nothing shows up on the notification bar. Phone is charged, and on the times that I did get the "charge required" notification, I could see that in the notification bar.

Long shot but do you have a text that hasn't been opened and your messaging app set you remind you of unread messages?

Thanks, but I looked back at all my texts and no drafts. I believe I found the culprit. I went into notifications again and found that not all the buttons were turned off. When I completely blocked the notifications again, the problem "seems" to be fixed. I'll let everyone know. Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions.

More from that link;
Got Yahoo mail?
Got repeat unread notifications checked in accessibility settings?

Edit-never mind... I see you got it sorted out

I wonder if its telling you that is dropped service. My moto x does this when I go from 4g to 1x or below. I think I had to factory reset to get it to stop.

Okay, think I've discovered the culprit App. It seems to be the Google App. It gives me a notification tone, but no other notification appears. Found it by using the Notification History App. Fixed it by blocking the notifications in the Settings/App Notifications/Google App/Block notifications. Seems to have done the trick! Thanks to all that gave suggestions!
