Help notifications disappearing when phone unlocked

Hi,
I'm getting loads of notifications in the top bar when phone is locked. but immediately when i unlock the phone, they all disappear so i don't know if i got texts/email etc. quite frustrating running through all the apps looking to see if there are new messages.
Any tips/pointers?

Very odd behavior. Are you using an app that shows notifications on your lock screen with a setting that dismisses them when you unlock.

This doesn't happen on my Nexus 5, so I do suspect an app you have installed, but I'm not sure what is going on.
