No second screen, no LED, how do notifications work? Do they pop up and disappear? Are they persistent?

i don't understand, what are the white lines on the top and the sides of the phone? Are they not LEDs?

They are insulators. The metal band around the phone is the antenna and the nylon inserts prevet a short circuit.
