Notifications

The one thing, that I miss the most, on my old phone, are the LED notification lights.

I've tried the "Sidelight" function but it only stays on for a limited time.
I've tried a couple different apps (Always On Edge and Plus Beat) but they don't do what I'm looking for. NoLED has been pulled from GP.

Anyone have any recommendations as to how to get a simple notification on the blank screen while AOD is disabled?

I use an app called "Flash on Call Premium". It uses the camera's flash to signal when you get a call or a text. It also can flash to any installed app, but I haven't used that section. You can also set it to flash if you missed a call or text.
I also use "Missed Call/SMS Reminder Pro". This app is a little more involved. This app gives you a choice of what to do when you miss a call, SMS or email.
I use flash for incoming phone calls and missed SMS. I use the "Missed call..." for exactly that. If I miss a phone call, I get a large pop-up window that can't be missed.
I hope these help.

I was really hoping that the NoLED app would have remained on Google Play, but I've also been in contact with the developer of the Always On Edge app and he's putting out updates as fast as he gets word of a problem.

Thanks, markdoc.
Checking out my options.

Gee I don't know - I learned to love the V20's second screen - and it did a good job of taking over notifications - ONe thing they could have done it pushed colors on it - as it was color capable. So the Gmail icon could have had red on it - text some other color and phone green. but eitherway I got used to it.

I currently use the AOD. Biggest reason I liked the second screen and the AOD - is the time showing. I use my mobile as my clock so I like that the time is always there. It does a reasonable job on notifications too - the icons are identifiable.

Apparently AOD only uses a few watts per day too - like the second screen so I think I'll keep it. vs re-rigging flashes to meet my need.

OH and follow on question is there a front multicolor LED on the V40 - I suspect there isn't

SO far the AOD does this - but I noticed I don't seem to get phone call notices.

text, email, voicemail - yes. missed calls - no. Not sure why.

Also I wish LG or google would make it so they could be color coded.

I'm guessing that they think missed calls aren't important, unless the caller leaves a message.

I tried LED Blinker (lite) but can't find a way to get it to stay until dismissed.

The search continues...

supposedly other people with AOD have issues with missed call too. seems there is a fix but I've not found the detail.

I've already tried 6.0.20. it's got a few bugs with the way it starts.

I believe I've found a remedy for the LED Blinker app opening and closing. It looks like you have to set the app to open sometime after an automatic function would normally close it.
I'm trusting my findings, so much, that I spent $3.99 of my Google Rewards money. ,

Well, this feces is no longer figurative.

I should have used a picture. It's from a meme picture old timey verbiage of popular phrases.

Like Collect Currency not prostitutes, or anyway. meant to be funny

Certain we all know what you meant.

admittedly there is more following on other android forums like XDA.

I think more people go there than here anyway.

I was concerned too. Before buying the LG V40, I came here to check out the issues people were having. It was basically empty. I'm glad we've got a small group of motivated people. (Although, more would be fine too)

I finally figured out how to get my message, missed call, and voicemail notifications to show up without AOD. I went to Settings>>General>>Apps&Notifications>>Notifications and make sure those are turned on. Next I went to Settings>>General>>Apps&Notifications>>App Info and then you click the following apps : Messages, Caller ID, Voicemail, and Contacts.
So say you are doing Messages, click on it then click app notifications options above the spot that says Permissions. Then slide on the notifications and edit it according to your needs like turn on badge icon and sound/urgency etc. Worked for me I will enclose some pictures too. Hope i helped!
