Help Notifiers on some icons

[OrigSleuth]

Sorry for the Noob question, but this has been bothering me for a while!

My Wife has a Sony Phone, and sometimes when there updates on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger or Email - a notifier appears to let her know that there is something new. It does not always happen (so she says!) but it happens.

With my OnePlus 3 I do not get that. If it is possible I would like this functionality. Is this something unique to Sony Phones or is it a setting that can be selected? If the latter then which setting please? The former .. then so be it!

Thanks in advance, and best regards

It's a feature of the launcher (the app that draws the desktop and app drawer). I don't know what the One+ launcher supports, since I don't have one. You'd have to search through the settings to see if there's anything there (unless someone with a One+ can answer it).

Alternatively there are third party launchers that can do this. For example, Nova Launcher has an add-on (TeslaUnread) that lets you add notification badges to many app icons.

Thanks for the quick response.

I will investigate further.
