Nov 11th not happening

I would never pre-order a phone!

Now if a phone was released about 2 weeks early through internet and also tele-sales, and I would get it before it hit stores, that's one thing. But to order a phone without having a hard release date to me is pointless. Its not as if this is the iphone and they'll be lines out the door. Vzw getting a little ridiculous IMO...

Even the iphone didn't have huge lines at verizon, although most probably preordered.

Verizon has 2 day standard shipping so they usually ship pre-orders 2-4 days prior to launch so you have the phone no later than launch day. This is the reason some people get them early. Do not cancel any pre-orders. You will likely get your delivery between the 7th and the 10th.

Considering the Razr has been given a vague launch time frame (November), it seems the product is in the process of being boxed & shipped, so there should be a gap of time, unless Moto and VZW want to eat expedited air fees from Asia.

My guess is the Razr will be a big seller, but like the Incredible, not enough supply. The Inc was hurt due to not enough ramp-up production and then had display supply issues from Samsung. (If HTC had planned the ramp-up better, they would have had more display supply allocated to them up front, rather than left in the dust and forced to use LCD.)

Moto and VZW will tout it as "Beyond our wildest expectations" and ride the "sold out" news as free marketing- just like MANY other companies do as well.

Added:

Seems the launch is the 10th and limited volumes of product will be in stores on the 17th, but my guess is as good or worse than anyone elses :)

You might want to call Verizon before you cancel your preorder. A co-worker of mine who is debating between a iphone and razr called to ask about availability of both devices in the store come 11.10. The rep told him that due to the preorders they do not anticipate any in store purchases of the Razr until early December....
Only believe about 20% of what a rep tells you and question 80% of that. ;)

One would think that the pre-orders would come earlier than the release at the store. I know i paid upfront Thursday October 27, at 8 a.m. (Eastern) and the Verizon rep that took my order stated Nov. 3 or 4th as a delivery date but he was not 100%. However if this is the case (11/10 or later) then I have learned a very good lesson from Verizon "never preorder from Verizon, there NO! benefit in doing so". In fact pre-ordering may determine that you receive the phone later than the ones who have not which is bush league on Verizon's part considering you committed to them to buy this phone early, however this is pure speculation at this point.

Your credit card doesn't get charged until they ship your phone, so none of us who pre-ordered really paid anything yet.

If the VZW rep you spoke to wasn't 100% sure, then he shouldn't have said anything...Or you shouldn't be holding him 100% to his statement. My rep told me he thought I'd likely have it by the 5th, but didn't guarantee anything; so needless to say, if it comes later than that, I'm not gonna write the guy hate mail or anything.

I kinda wished (and I think it would make sense) for people who pre-order to get the phone a couple of days early or at least get it on launch day without having to deal with lines in the store. Personally, I'm happy if I get it on launch day. I'm okay with getting it the day after it launches. I'm thrilled if I get it early. At least I know that I *am* getting one and don't have to go play roulette in an overcrowded store.

While history is not always an indicator of the future, it's the only thing we really have to base our predictions (and hopes) on...And a lot of people who pre-ordered the Incredible got it a day or two or three early, so let's stay positive here!

I was reading through this thread and seen a few people going back and forth on if UPS and FedEx would be open. I just want to clear the air and say yes they are open for sure, I work for UPS and we have never closed execpt on major holidays like Labor day and that stuff. Just trying to clear the air a little.
