Now that you have had it for a while. How do you feel about the Samsung Galaxy Tab?

Now that we have all got used to our Samsung Galaxy Tabs for a while. Ive got a few questions for everyone.

How long have you had your Samsung Galaxy Tab?

On a scale of 1 - 5 what do you rate the SGS?

Tell your feelings about your SGS experience.

I got mine about 1/4/11. And so far I have enjoyed having the Galaxy Tab. I would probably rate the experience a 4.5. The one thing that could've made it better would be hdmi and usb ports.

Overall, I haven't had any problems with the galaxy tab. It has been an enjoyable experience, I wish the screen was bigger.

had mine 2 months now and i love it , for me the size was the deciding factor its ideal to read on the train and carry around.
love the screen, love the games and apps for it all in all i'd give it a 4.5 out of 5 due to the shortish battery life.

I have also had mine for two months and love it. The size is great for most reading and browsing. I've pretty much replaced my netbook for casual traveling and meetings. I have the Sprint version, so using a bluetooth keyboard is not easy right now, but I'm confident I will have choices in the near future.

Galaxy tab at this point is a 5 out of the box. No crazy hacks required. No other android tablet that you can get in your hand RIGHT NOW compares at this point.

The archos line is close and the price is amazing.
Viewsonic requires to much hacking.

I guarantee you that is you get a galaxy tab you will be good to go for at least 6-12 months (maybe longer). It really does everything you need it to and more.

If you want to hear some real life stories about daily use of the galaxy tab I suggest you listen to the last couple podcasts of mobile techroundup. They all have galaxy tab and love it.

The two killer apps for the SGT are Marketplace out of the box and the built in video codecs. Watching 720p mkv videos are a breeze, and the 5.1 surround mode is the icing on the cake. When you compare the 1024x600 resolution of the SGT to the 800x480 of the Archos 70, it's no contest. The resolution and size is also fantastic for ebooks.

Compared to my Evo, the SGT operation is faster and smoother with less hitches and hiccups. When I hear people say that the SGT is just an extra-large Android phone, I can't really disagree, but at the same time, making phone calls was always an afterthought on my Evo anyway -- all that means to me is that Android 2.2 is very well suited for tablets.

The big drawback for me is pricing -- a $400 wifi only model would have been a nice option (although the Market situation may be a factor here), and having to pay for a $30/mo data plan for Sprint is tough to swallow if mobile data isn't a priority for you.

Overall, SGT gets 4 stars from me.

I didn't activate my data plan with sprint, I just keep it in Airplane mode

amazing device !!
i replace my netbook by SGS in my work and i take it with me wherever i go

i will give it 5 if it upgradable to Honycomp :p

if it is not :( 4/5

Very, very pleased with mine. Form factor was the decider over the iPad, the size makes it a much better eBook reader, plus I value the flexibility of Android too.

I've a couple of gripes - first is the non-standard USB connector, which means carting an extra cable about - and spare cables aren't cheap & not readily available.

The second is the on/off switch - it's too easy to activate, even in the offical Samsung case. I'd be happier with a slider. I got on a long haul flight the other day, pulled out my Tab (which had been on charge overnight and definitely switched off), only to find it was switched on and the battery at 10%. I guess it had been in my bag, leaning on the on/off switch through the case. It was very annoying as I had about 15 minutes reading my ebook before it hit 3% and insisted on switching off. I then was stuck with the poor selection of in-flight movies for the next 8 hours :(

4/5 from me.

4/5 from me.

Luckly I have not had to deal with bumping the power button. However I agree that standard USB would be great.

It is a rare bit of tech. Came into the house and fitted in with no hassle. Brought it for web, ereader and as a photoviewer and does all of them with easy.

But it creeps into your life, cheap mount means it now the car satnav/ in car pc whens its not doing that role its strapped to the headrest so 2 year old can watch her favourite cartoons.

Wife nicks it for facebook and her forums, she does shopping list on it then takes it with her, daughter nicks it to finger draw on it and that is the only major issue, its to easy to use so need at least 1 more.

Aps i love on the tab imbd, sky news, mytracks, sky+ and google earth with gps

echo what others have posted but will add its not only that it does them so well but with so little hassle

I bought mine on launch date at Tmobile, and I couldn't be happier with it.

I use it for business with Docs To Go, use the GPS functions, and it paired wonderfully with my *ahem* apple bluetooth keyboard. As soon as the Jorno folding BT keyboard is released I'll be using that instead.

The BT functions very well, the videos are great, and the only things I don't like about it are the aforementioned power button being too easily hit, and the battery life.

It's definitely a keeper. My poor Streak has been sitting in a drawer gathering dust since I got the Tab. I think it's time to sell it...

Oh! And I rate it a 4.5.

I have had it a week now.
So far rating
Software in the unit is great, needed to add Dolphin HD so I can download zip & Rar Files, Needs Download Manager to continue downloads, when drop outs, still looking for one that intergates with browser or has manual URL adding system.
WFI is not very strong, and drops out, needs a better antenna system. rating 2 out of 5
Gettting software, So much to pick from, only problem is find the best stuff for the big screen. rating 5 out of 5. Found Gameloft HD games great.
Epub reader is great, so many books got about 4000+ already, looking for more Magazines. rating 6 out of 5

Docking Station have two best one is from Samsung (has HDMI port & audio out)
Leather Case wallet

Still early Days for me, over all rating 4.5 out of 5

I have it little over 2 weeks now, love it!
This is my 2nd Android Tablet. I had the Elocity A7 b4, I returned it finally after 2 months. I can't take that POS no more ! No multi-touch, no REAL Market, poor customer supports(Emailed them twice, never hear from them), heavier compare to the TAB and the CONTROLs are not lighted! I don't care they have the Tegra2, but the feel of the A7 is not right! so much of that A7.
I find the TAB is easier to hold and grab. The speed is fast. And you-tube video are better compare to that A7 It's give u the full screen! It's serve the purpose of mine, that most important factors. Overall rating 4.5 out of 5.0.

I've had mine since launch day and for the most part it's been good. I actually came on this forum to find out how to stop it crashing into 'Kernal Panic' mode with fair regularity. It usually swift enough but often gets bogged down - best not to have more than one app open at any time.

Battery life really sucks and I find it has go on charge all the time. I can easily run the battery down in about 2 hours from full with heavy use but the kicker is it takes longer to charge than it actually lasts. The bundled charger does make it charge a bit quicker but I don't want to to have to lug that around with me everywhere. Charging over USB is a lesson in patience, I don't think it actually charges it really, rather it just stops your battery going down further. I'd like to complain about it not having a standard USB connector for charging same as the rest of the comments but I can why they didn't considering the charge over USB performance.

Other than these gripes it seems okay, not as polished as the iPad but then it has more features to contend with along with a non-tablet OS. Hopefully Samsung are working on a Honeycomb upgrade for it. I'll give it a 3.5/5 because there's room for improvement although it's a very good first attempt.

BIG question for me.I`ve read you can use it like a phone with a bluetooth ear piece. In fact there were some you tube videos showing people using it as a phone.

I use mine as a phone all the time. If you really want to look an idiot, you can actually use it without a Bluetooth headset!

I'm in the UK though - just make sure you don't get a WiFi only version, which I believe are available in the USA?

My company needed to spend some $ before the end of the year, so I purchased my Tab on 12/24.

It's a terrific tool for my purposes. I replaced my wireless aircard and carry it instead of my laptop on most business trips. We set up a remote access for the Tab, so I can access our network easily.

Overall I am very pleased with it, especially to not lug my massive HP laptop nearly as often.

It's the ideal device for my purposes, to allow me to use it for quick and easy access to work related content that my work provided blackberry doesn't.

I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.

you guys have just sold me a Galaxy tab! I've been in the fence for a while and after reading your posts, im going to get a SGT next week!

I got my SGT one week ago and I am very happy with my new toy. The 7'' size is the best compromise between portability and readability. Has many app out of the box. Great display (visually and touch screen performance). GPS works inside my house, better than any other device I had. WiFi could be better as already mentioned here but it is not bad.

The Brazilian version has even Digital and Analog TV (here we have special TV system) and everything in Brazilian Portuguese.

Battery live could be better....

In general I would rate 4,5 / 5 only because of battery live and because 5 for me is to much...

I've had my Tab since Black Friday and am happy with it. I opted for the data plan which I take advantage of when I'm traveling. Being able to surf on a long car trip is a great convenience, so don't mind the $30/month charge (sprint). But its on wifi probably 70% of the time. The screen is just the right-size so very portable. I also have the Evo 4G so have much experience with the android OS. Just hope Honycomb or Gingerbread comes along. I debated ipad, but it just seemed so big and didn't have the flexibility of an android OS.

One thing I do hate though is it doesn't charge via USB. Most people connect it to a PC to transfer data so you'd think charging it at the same time would be ideal. I did purchase the multimedia dock for it but may return it as it doesn't charge it either. Unless you need HDMI connection, stear away from the dock. You can do everything the dock does with just the cable itself.

Overall, 4.5 out of 5 because of the USB charging.

The multimedia dock DOES charge the tablet. I use it every night. You must be hooking something up wrong.
