numbered alerts and pop ups

Been using the LG G2 for about 2 months now after having had an iPhone for 5 years or so. Trying to find answers to a few items, so any help is greatly appreciated!

-Want to know if I can get the numbered alerts on top of the icons? (I.e., if I have 2 voicemails, it will show a 2 on top of the voicemail icon). Currently, I DO get that alert for missed phone calls, but not for voicemails or text messages. Currently using YouMail for voicemail and GO SMS for text. More than open to using other apps if I can get this feature
-Would prefer my reminders in my calendar to actually pop up on my screen.
-That being said, the one thing I do miss from my iPhone is the alerts popping up on screen, not in the alerts bar. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Dave

Don't quote me on this (lol), but I believe that's going to be a function of each specific app in question instead of a system-level option. I unfortunately haven't played with a lot of different voicemail and SMS apps, but hopefully someone can recommend one that will do what you want.

To that end, Floatifications may be just the thing - it hooks into the notification handler to present any new notifications as a floating bubble on top of your screen.

Hope this helps - and again, welcome :)

You can use Nova Launcher with the Tesla Unread addon to get the number "badges" on the phone and sms icon (i dont know about voicemail).
I have a feeling theres a less extreme way.. Nova is a great launcher (home screen replacement app) though

Just realised TeslaUnread requires the payed version of Nova to work

Apex Launcher has a similar notifier app, but I think similarly needs the paid version of Apex Launcher.

TeslaUnread does also work with WidgetLocker as well as Nova. I think the Apex notifier works with Dashclock.

Most third-party SMS apps include a pop-up if you want one. Or if you prefer to use your built-in SMS app then there's "SMS Popup" in the Play Store which can work with that.

My voicemail service sends an SMS to me to notify me of voice mails. Other than that, I don't have any indication about how many voicemails I have.

For other apps, Nova Prime Launcher has a feature that shows a number beside an app that indicates the number of notifications you have from that app.

You'll have to find some calendar app that has that feature. I have a Galaxy S3 and the default calendar app on my phone pops it up on my screen.

This is a feature of the app. You will have to find apps that have this feature. The only apps that I use that do this are my calendar app, alarm app and phone app (obviously). These apps are the default apps on my phone and are manufacturer specific (Samsung in my case). I think FriendCaster (a third party Facebook app) does this, but I haven't used it in a long time.
