Help NV backups

Should you make a new NV backup after a large system update like Lollipop on Samsung devices? I made one backup as soon as I activated phone, S5 Active, then flashed Lollipop update .

Samsungs refer to a reserved partition as NV, non-volatile (I don't recall, maybe modem firmware or something). There's a standard (although a little protracted) backup procedure that grabs that and the IMEI, both of which can be lost resulting in catastrophe.

I haven't found a good explanation of NV items yet but I think it deals with the information on your device about modems, radios, comport and USB drivers. Also IMEI info that could get corrupted during a flash. I've only seen this happen once where a S3 lost its IMEI. My question would be does any of it change after a big update? Think I'll make another backup anyway, can't have to many.

Seems that making NV backup after Lollipop not as easy as I thought. Lollipop update disabled diagnostic ports. Thought I had flashed bad update. You have to boot into recovery and enable CP Logging in order for com ports to work.
