Help O2 Apns Froyo/2.2

Right - I'm trying to fix my O2 apns, and the settings they've given me just make them not work. (Grr)

The one that you can automatically set up with 2.2 gives me mms capabilities and SOME internet:

wap.02.co.uk
193.113.200.195
8080
o2wap
password
<not set>
http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
193.113.200.195
8080
WAP 2.0
234
10
<not set>
*

However - apparently I'm supposed to have a separate one for mobile internet as:
"Those are the WAP settings which only allow access through the WAP gateway or an http: gateway. You need the the O2 Mobile Web settings. Which are basically. APN=mobile.o2.co.uk with username = web and password = password"

I put these in - and it breaks it - Under the wireless and networks section where you tick the mobile network bit - it says connection failed, instead of connected.

I set it up like this:

1) O2 Mobile Web
mobile.o2.co.uk
web
password
wap 2.0 - can't delete - wont let you save without
234 - can't delete - wont let you save without
10 - can't delete - wont let you save without
default

2) O2 Postpay
wap.02.co.uk
193.113.200.195
8080
o2wap
password
<not set>
http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
193.113.200.195
8080
WAP 2.0
234
10
<not set>
MMS

Still broken - not getting internet.

GRR - it's worse than before. At least then I *thought* I was getting internet, just some things weren't working. Now I'm getting nothing.

Do you have a button to choose between the APN's? Your MMS should NOT havea button to choose it, only the O2UK. Delete all other APNs

Also, I put in bold where mine differs from yours.

No button - I'm changing mine to yours to test them... what the supl thing with the default in the first one??

hmm - well that seemed to work for getting internet back to normal, but the app I want to test still isn't working. Grr... :(

And MMS wont send.

:( :( :( :(

I only have the one APN. Settings below. Were set when I first set up the phone. I've never touched them. Phone is unbranded.

Name: O2 Postpay
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port: 8080
Username: o2wap
Password: *********
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http:mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8082
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication type: <not set>
APN type: *

My mobile network says connection failed when wi-fi is enabled but changes to connected as soon as I turn wi-fi off.

Odd.

Not sure. On my O2 branded desire, I never got MMS and internet to work at the same time, unless on 1 APN, but it's supposed to be 2.

I had to delete the Mobile web one and (i cant remeber which) either remove mms from the last field to leave blank or change to default.

I wanted 2 however, because sometimes the data network went down within the MMS one and I had to use the other to get a connection

My settings above were auto detected and applied when I installed a custom ROM and have worked fine ever since.

My settings below. Set when I first set up the phone. No idea if they were changed when I updated to Froyo. Phone is unbranded.

Name: O2 Postpay
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port: 8080
Username: o2wap
Password: *********
Server: <not set>
MMSC: http:mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8082
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication type: <not set>
APN type: *

Thats pretty much what I had at first. But the data network kept failing every now and again, where I had to use different usernames and passwords (hence the mobile web APN) which never worked together on my O2 branded phone.

These are the ones that I was told weren't providing mobile internet...

(See this reply: "Those are the WAP settings which only allow access through the WAP gateway or an http: gateway. You need the the O2 Mobile Web settings. Which are basically. APN=mobile.o2.co.uk with username = web and password = password" )

It's not O2 branded - but it's not rooted... It's a simplicity sim in a normal unrooted, unbranded (by any network) phone..

You can connect to the internet through that one.

You can connect to the internet through that one.

I can get websites - but apparently it's not 'full mobile internet'.

I said that using that mobile internet works, and got this response:

"No it doesn't. You are calling it mobile internet, but its actually through an http proxy and O2's transcoding proxy."

Meh. Ok.

Not quite sure what to suggest to be honest. Its a shame O2 can't send out the settings like they can for other phones.

Well they work OK for me. Not sure what wouldn't be working that I don't use.
