Obsessed with Awake time?

Seems a lot of people are obsessed with their awake time. I personally never even look at it. I have all services turned on, GPS, always on data, bluetooth, wifi (every now and then, the 3g is fast enough for me) and I am easily getting 12-20 hours out of my phone depending on how much talking I do.

Maybe it is because I use Bedside while my phone is charging at night, so during that time it is awake and doesn't sleep that I know my awake time will be all over the place.

For the folks that are still having high awake time, what is the problem other than that number? Are you only getting 4 hours out of your battery?

I find that awake time is only an issue relative to the screen off time. If the screen is on (unit being used) for 3 hours and the awake time is near 3 hours. That would be fine. The problem is when the screen is off and the CPU continues to run full speed ahead. I have had such a problem when I am in a dead signal area. I turn airplane mode on, but the phone continuously tries to acquire a data feed for the background updates. In that case, the screen is off but the battery is being sucked dry. Off course, I now go to airplane mode AND turn off background data.

I too am curious as to what it hurts as long as your battery life is acceptable.

If battery life is still up around 18 hours for me, it'd be fine. But when my phone is awake for 50% plus when I'm hardly using it, and the battery dies quicker, it bothers me. That's the only time I worry about it.

Yea my awake time usually hovers around 20%, you have to watch out for apps on the market as well, because some actually cause your awake time to go up and stay up.
