Root OC damage possibilty?

Hi , its me again ( sorry)
just read a few threads etc , and wondered if OCing my phone to say 1.1 - 1.15 would shorten its life? Im probably gonna be stuck with it for a long time so i dont want it dying in my arms ...!

thanks

It will shorten the battery life, but only compared to having it clocked at a lesser speed. The DHD by default is clocked at 1024-1075 (can't remember exactly) so it's very unlikely that your phone will suffer damage from it being clocked to 1.15. Some people will put theirs up to about 1.4 or 1.5 safely, and although the battery life won't be very good it is still pretty safe. Anything above that runs the risk of damage though

The two downsides to overclocking are reduced battery life and the excess heat that is generated, and both increase the higher you overclock. At really high temperatures, the heat can actually do permanent damage, particularly to the battery.

That said, I've never known my DHD to get particularly warm when overclocked, even when I've bumped it to 1.5 for a short burst. At 1.15 you should be completely fine.

I would have said the same thing would happen as happens to a pc when you overclock it, the cpu will have 10+ years life in it and overclocking will shorten that ever so slightly, you have done a very small overclock so I can't see how it will make any difference during the time you have the phone even if you expect to have it a while.
Other than that the same would apply as said above.
