I purchased my Droid Bionic phone on the first day it was released (9/8/11) from the Verizon online store. I really like everything about the phone, including the fast navigation, text messaging functions, and the 4G LTE speed.
The only issue I noticed with my Droid Bionic is that there is an occasional loss of a 4G LTE signal on my phone. Throughout a typical day, I would estimate that I would have a 4G signal half of the time and a 3G signal the other half of the time. I live in a town in Tennessee with a 4G signal and I noticed this issue everyday. I also noticed the same connectivity issue (50% 3G and 50% 4G) when I visited Louisville, KY. According to the Verizon website, my town and Louisville, KY currently have a 4G LTE connection.
My question is this: Does anyone know the reason why my Droid Bionic would have a 4G connection only half the time? Is this a limitation of the 4G data connection of the Droid Bionic itself or is there a weaker 4G data signal in my town and Louisville, KY?
Another issue I noticed a few times everyday is when I wake up my phone from standby mode and there is no data connection (either 3G or 4G). In order for me to get a data connection, I would have to go to the settings menu to switch to the "CDMA only" option and then choose the "CDMA/LTE" option in order to get a data connection.
Is there going to be a software update for the Droid Bionic in order prevent the loss of all data connection and also to maintain a 4G data connection at 4G locations?
