Help Odd Contact Widget issue

I've noticed something odd with the 1x1 Contact Widget.

I've added about 12 or so of my most used contacts to one of my home screens and I noticed when I click on some of them I see their phone # and if it's mobile, work, home, etc..and the little text message icon that I can click which is to the right of the phone number in the People app.

However, I've also noticed that on some of the contact widgets..that little text message icon is not there. It's almost like it's just off the edge of the widget. I can still click the far right side and about 50% of the time it will go to text messages. So I see the phone number, the line that looks like this " | ", but not text message icon.

It's just weird that only about half of them appear like this. I've tried deleting and re-adding them, but that didn't help. Can anyone see if you see the same thing?

The little text message icon I am referring to can be seen in this image:

I've had the same problem, and I assume it has to do with how my contacts are set up. However, I already had Animated Widget Pro, so I'm still using it. It does everything I want from the contact widget. I would be interested in figuring out how to fix this problem, though, if anyone knows what causes it.

It was driving me nuts, so I have been fiddling with this ever since the day I got the phone, and I found something that worked. It's a pain in the butt, but here's what I did:

  1. 1. Made note of the info for the contacts so I could re-enter them, then deleted each contact.
  2. 2. Created a Google contact for each person, leaving the phone number blank.
  3. Created a VZW Backup Assistant contact for each person.
  4. 4. Joined the two contacts.
  5. 5. Ran "SyncMyPix" so the contact photos would show up.
  6. 6. Add the contact widget on your screen.
  7. Click on the widget - the message indicator is NOT there. Click on the little people icon that brings up the contact in the People app.
  8. Click the menu and Edit.
  9. Now, under the Google contact, click Add a Field, and select Phone Number.
  10. Enter the phone number and click Done.
  11. Now, when you click on the widget, you should see the little text message icon next to the phone number.

I did this for about 6 or 7 of my frequent contacts that I wanted a widget on my homescreen for, and it took me a little while, but everybody is working now. Hope this works for you!
