Oddest crash ever while draining battery...

So I was letting my battery drain to nothing. It got to 1% than shut down. After trying to reboot it about 4x and it kept turning off i put it into the recovery mode. Just sitting there idle. After it sat with the screen lit up for about 15minutes i decided to say screw it (figured screen on for 15min after 0% battery means a lot of lost battery somewhere) when i goto boot the phone again it comes up to the boot screen and hangs. Anybody ever seen this? Im restoring my backup rigt now hoping ll works well. I guess I shoulda did another backup before draining my battery. Never thought that would effect it tho.

Ideas? Or why at 0% it could stay on for 15min+?

your battery gone's berserk like mine before :( did you try resetting everything? you had the chance to go to recovery mode, yeah? try resetting everything wiping caches and datas.. don't forget to backup :D

-it never hurts to hit on thanks!

So your running an electronic device with a nearly drained battery and wonder why you get weird results. The voltage on the battery probably got to a level that the OS couldn't "use" to boot properly.

I know my Droid X after a low battery shutoff will not reboot until it has charged for 15 minutes or so. You just get a screen with an empty battery indicator. I guess the DX checks the voltage before continuing the boot sequence and your phone doesn't.

You probably shouldn't try to exhaust the battery to 0% anyway. I know talking about batteries is like talking about religion. Everyone has their own opinion and believe about what is right, and most conflict with others. Just do what the phone tells you. If it shuts down due to a dead battery, charge it.

Battery was charged up some when I tried again with no luck. Had to go back to my backup. After I did that it took almost 6 hours to charge back up so hopefully it achieved something. I just found it weird that it did that

I've been having trouble with short battery life (Samsung Rugby smart) the last couple days, wouldn't even make 24 hours with very light use (at the same time Android OS was far and away the biggest power user). last night I forgot to put it on charge and this morning it had shut down.

I charged it this morning, it's only a little down and Android OS is a minor power consumption.

You probably had something buggy that was running in the background and when the phone shut down it stopped it. I always think its a good thing to turn your phone off from time to time. Some may disagree, but I find it helps.

I agree. Shutting down once in a while will usually correct occasional goofy problems.....just like a PC.

Well, yes. I don't think android is perfect, hence we have task managers* & the debate over wether to have them. Actually I think it's the apps that aren't perfect, hence we get updates every other day, even for the google apps.

There are cache cleaning apps & toggle widgets for reboot / hot boot / recovery etc etc... this will minimize amount of freezes & provide a quicker way to reboot

*no I don't use task managers
