Odin mode

I don't know what happened but I woke up in the middle of the night and my s6 had a weird glow. I pressed the home button and it went to another screen and I pressed it again and it went into Odin mode. Man, I freaked out. I was wondering what happened, will T-Mobile help me or will they think I tried to root. Anyway, I searched and found a similar that on the s3 forum. That helped and now I'm using my s6 to write this.
My questions are these did anyone know what happened? Has this happened to them?
Why would Samsung (or Google, if this part of lollipop) put this in if they don't want you to root?

Unless you actually use Odin mode (download mode) your fine, T-Mobile won't even know, even if they did you've just opened a feature of the device.

The bigger concern is why. It may be just a glitch, but if it happens again I'd be back for a replacement.

Thanks. It hasn't happened since.

It could have been that your phone updated the OS overnight which required a reboot. It didn't boot cleanly (probably a cache issue) and went into recovery which is how you found it. It's no biggie. :)
