Has anyone used the odin3 program to update to 2.2? I did it on my captivate worked great no lag still alittle gps lag but not much. Wondering where it came from and if it is going to be the same froyo at&t is going to give us. went back to stock in case of froyo update we hope to see before end of the year.

welcome to the forum, the version you flashed was a "leaked" version and a lot of developers speculate that the version released is not 100% what AT&T will release. It works great except for a few things.

Depending on which 2.2 you installed, it might either be the early unfinished leaked internal developer/beta build that j101399j mentioned, or it might be one based on a different phone that users have hacked-up to try and make it work as best they can on the Captivate's hardware. But all have little quirks and gotchas as a result... just for different reasons.

When the froyo update becomes available can i just use odin3 to go back to stock and upgrade the phone. If i cant will there be other odin3's for the real froyo?

Many users have reported not receiving automatic updates over the air after using the Odin "1-click" stock flash. This and other symptoms have revealed that this is not a true return to "stock".

You may, however, be able to force it to update with Kies Mini. We won't know for certain though until the official 2.2 comes out. There is always the chance that, once you start flashing hacked ROMs, you will forever be dependent on such ROMs as your only upgrade path going forward.

It was strange i flashed back to stock and tried conncecting to kies and my screen kept flashing from home to the intializing screen for usb and kept flashing between them. very strange i think i am screwed to ever get the real update. ever heard of that one before?
