Of pets and printers

We have the Epson WorkForce Pro WP-6020 printer and like it. The only problem is the cat. She's gotten entirely too good at generating test pages or somehow convincing the printer to report non-existent paper jams. Anyone know anything about cat-proofing an inkjet printer? :)

I have a wireless printer on a shelf that is high enough that my cats (3) that come in have 4 all together can't jump up to yet not to high that we cant get to it to change the ink or put paper in it. Works great for us.

Here's what you do, get a very large cardboard box. This needs to be a box that is large enough that you can fit inside. Carve out a peep hole so you can watch what is going on. Now, if this is reminding you of Metal Gear, good. SO, now you've got a great box hiding place. Step one is complete.

Now, you position yourself near the printer. Wait. Eventually, the sneaky feline will approach the printer with the intent of wasting paper and ink. Watch out, these cats can be very dangerous if you approach them directly. So just watch them. Once the cat plays with the printer, quickly stand up, discarding the box in the process. In the .64 seconds this should take, yell "AAAA HA!" at your cat. The cat will be so ashamed of being bested at sneakery, it will never mess with your printer again.

;)

No, I have no idea how to keep a cat away from the printer. Maybe try to associate something that the cat dislikes with the printer...?

That .64 seconds would be followed by a 1.72 seconds of yowling and the cat either performing a flying leap at said person in box with the intent to claw an eye or two, or else attempting to set the new land speed record of "run for cover" as she zipped under the nearest available bed, from where she would commence growling....

Uh, wow.

And I didn't think that there was a height they couldn't reach lol....

Maybe they can reach it but they don't bother it so I guess its high enough that it doesnt grab thier attention.

@ 925 after you finally get the cat off of you I can promise you will never do anything that dumb again :D:p

Not only that you risk the possibility of the cat taking the printer down as it takes a flying leap either towards you or under the bed :p

Small apartment, so we really can only put the printer where it currently resides. We'll have to figure out the aversion thing (she does dislike compressed air being sprayed).

Try putting ballons around it if she pops a few it maybe enough of a deterrent to keep her away
