Off-Line Calendar.

Having successfully migrated everything from 15 years on Palm Desktop I'm still very much in awe of the power and features of my Samsung Galaxy S2.

The only thing that is bugging me is Google Calendar. Having somehow managed to get a load of duplicate entries on the phone I searched and found that the best way to start afresh was to clear the calendar cache, which I did.

I now find that I have 12 years' of appointments on my Google Calendar but on the phone they only go back thirty days. Is this an Android feature or Google Calendar or both? Of course I still have all my appointments going back to 1999 when I use my PC but I want them on my phone!

I know that this is a problem that Google doesn't seem to want to address so here's the question:

Does anyone do an off-line calendar, similar to the Palm Desktop version, that I can sync via wi-fi or even by a cable, or I am stuck with having my calendar in the cloud and saying goodbye to my old entries?

It's a huge pity all this as Google Calendar is super in many respects.

I sync my phone (Desire HD) with Outlook on my PC using MyPhoneExplorer and can download ALL events, going backwards and forwards several years. This is set on the MPE PC Client and not the phone so it can't be an Android limitation.

Probably doesn't help you much but it's another piece to the puzzle ....

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. It seems to me that very few people want to help out newbies on this site. When I was on Palm forums any question, no matter how silly, would be answered by several people and eventually of course, I became one of the helpers myself.

I don't use Outlook I'm afraid and don't wish to start. I can't believe that, with the limitations of Google Calendar, there isn't one off-line calendar application that will synch using wi-fi or by cable.

I have searched and been unsuccessful and I always try before posing a question on here, but the response to my last three queries has been very disappointing.

If no one is aware of an off-line calendar, perhaps they can point me in the direction of an Android forum where the experienced members are happy and willing to assist those who are new or not so technically inclined?

Did you have look at Jorte?

You can sync with Google, but only if you want it
Import/export with CSV files.

For myself I don't use/need Jorte, but I heard good things about it

I have to disagree with the statements above; I'm also a relative newbie to this forum and have always gotten the help needed. It is helpful to be aware that this is an international forum so you may be posting when other members are also asleep. It is also possible that, being the weekend, many members may be away from the computers and/or focused on other things.

What ever the reason I don't believe it is helpful or appropriate to ask for help and then very soon afterwards slag off the forum. A little sugar goes a long way .....

I can assure you that I'm fully aware of time zones and weekends. I have twice asked for help in the last 14 days and not had a single reply, which I find unusual compared to my previous experiences on Palm forums some years ago.

Even if it was to say that my problem is unsolvable, it would have been nice to have a reply telling me that.

I'm sorry, but I can only report my experiences up to date and they are not good!
