Office App

I wonder if someone can help?

Back in the good old Nokia Communicator days, they came with a full version of I think Quick Office already installed. For me, one of the great things was the fact that with a spreadsheet containing my customers' details, I could click on their phone number > COPY, then go to the dialer screen and click on the number box > PASTE, and hey presto the phone number was there, and I simply pressed the green button and the number was dialed.

The free version of QO already installed on my Xperia P is pretty tame so I downloaded the free Kingsoft Office, but although it's a lot better than QO, I still can't do what I've described above.

So...........can anybody tell me if any of the Android office apps do this? I'm happy to pay for a full version if necessary.

Thanks in anticipation.

I've Polaris Office (as stock app) and DocsToGo on my phone and only Polaris copys a sheet's cell contents to the phone's clipboard.

I haven't used Kingsoft much yet but it already looks and works better than the free version of Quick Office. But you can't copy & paste with it! :(

And re Polaris, I tried via the above link, and found it, but it won't download! :(

Looks to be a country restriction, the link claims the app isn't compatible with any of my devices either.

Do the document editing tools in Google Drive do what you need them to do?

I think you are right, EP :)

On Play Store the app claims the same about my HTC phone and ... although some version (?) of Polaris Office is stock on my HTC phone :D

Hi Supatramp, I just tried it with DocsToGo again.
But instead pressing on the spreadsheet's cell I just tapped on it and went to that little windows on the top which shows the content of the cell. In that window I was able to use the phone's copy&paste :)

Have you tried this with QuickOffice already?

I've actually got a separate issue with Google Drive! Using it to transfer folders and files from my PC to my laptop instead of via my wi-fi network, I discovered that some folders had transferred ok, but others were just empty folders!

Thanks Harry. I've just gone into Kingsoft and discovered that I can indeed 'copy & paste' into the phone dialer. It doesn't work quite as easily as with my old Communicators, but it is working, so thanks for your help! :shakehands:
