Help Official 2.3 Gingerbread update available (EH09)

If you post here with feedback on the update, please let us know whether you did mini kies (downloaded it yourself) or reflashed at the store.

Thanks!

It was up, now it's not there anymore... maybe have to go into the store. Mini Kies didn't recognize any update needed either.

Got word from US Cellular that the link was taken down because it was still linked to the old 2.2 version. Should be up and running later this afternoon per US Cell tech.

I would go in and get it done. I did Fryo myself at home with kies and I lost 3G all together until getting the update redone at the store. I think there was a prob with the ee10 radio at the time though. Only prob with going in is you need to start fresh since they wipe your system to install the new build kernal.

I have had nothing but issues with every mini kies update I have installed on mine. I have had much better reliability when I get it reflashed at the store.

The only drawback is that it is a reflash (i.e. complete wipe) so you have to reload your apps. But thats a small price to pay for a phone that works.

I'm running EE19 on my Mez, but it is currently rooted. To upgrade to EH17 at the USCC store, do I need to un-root my phone, or can they update it on top of the root access?

The in store wipe, will update your current EE19 to EH17 and your phone will be just as if you took to out of the box with 2.3. No root and all the bloatware back on the phone. I would run a backup using TiBu (TitaniumBackup) and flash the stock EE19 befor going to the store. some of the in store techs are cool about it but some will tell you they can update a moded phone

Bahh, I was afraid of that. There was so much bloatware that I was able to get rid of when I rooted my phone... I guess I'll just have to re-root it after the update.

The tech at my local store is cool about it being rooted, as long as I have not put any custom ROMs or kernels on it. He pretends like "SuperUser" is just an app.

A buddy of mine took his in with one of the "leaked" ROMs and they told him they wouldn't touch it because it didn't have an official USCC firmware on it.

Is there a good backup app that can save my apps and contact info for a non-rooted phone? I might carry mine into the store but want to make sure I have everything saved.

seems gingerbread came a lot quicker than the froyo update. Either way right now Im in TN and even though it's got some US stores I'll wait until I get home so I don't lose my phone operation due to something unexpected. At home I can live without it for a while, while traveling it'll suck.

Got my memorize updated yesterday evening at the store. So for I'm pleased and the signal reception/strength has improved 100%.

Free apps you don't have to back up. Google contacts and paid apps are automatically backed up to your Google account.

One thing you will need to do before you take it in is make sure that you export all of your Phone contacts (not your Google contacts) to your SD card and/or upload them to your Google contacts. That way you do not lose any contacts that were only on your phone.

It's about time US Cellular got this out...only 5 more years until they release ice cream sandwich! Odin flash is the best way to install this.

I attempted to install the 2.3 when I got home via Kies around 5:30pm (-6:00 GMT) and upon connecting my phone to my computer, Kies notified me that there was no update available at this time and that the next update was scheduled for 2014.

I'm going to stop by a USCC store today and see if they cant update for me. Not a whole lot I'll be missing when they're done. I only keep like 10 or so market apps on my phone at a time. Why? Just a habbit of minimalism. xD

Just updated via kies. Everything went smoothly, and, like the froyo update it didn't wipe the phone. I didn't experience Any problems with froyo update and hopefully won't with this one.

When I go into the update software the "Next" button is missing but there is a "Exit". Can't figure it out and it's making me mad. I've tried everything!

Okay so I'm at home and my Mesmerize is connected to the computer via Kies. There is no update available. Suggestions?
