Official 4G/WiMAX Coverage Areas

That would be hot if Richmond got 4G. I'm in DC but the main place I travel to is Richmond. I heard Sprint should be adding a new 4G city tomorrow, anyone have a clue who it is?

Good News: I've already seen two white Ford Ranger pickup trucks with "Clear" on the side of them driving around the Fort Lauderdale/Dania Beach area.

Looks like they're already deploying the network down here. I wish I knew someone with a 4g data card in the area to see if it actually works...

Spoke with a sprint rep today here in Kansas City, she told me that there will be a soft launch june 4th and the official role out will be june 18th. Hope she is right

Chicago's 4G coverage actually extends all the way out to the far suburbs if I'm not mistaken. It's actually quite a large area.

Really? I wonder how some sprint wireless cards were able to occasionally pick up 4G out here in Riverside. I doubt theyre rolling out a 4G tower for the inland empire...yet anyways.

don't say that.. i have faith we'll get it in riverside on launch day :) probably misguided ... but oh well

That's much more promising than reports in LA. I was just saying we're not going to get a usable signal from towers in LA. Unless they are right on the border, we're just not (at least any signal that matters. I've read you can detect wimax signals up to 30 miles away, but you need to be MUCH closer to get 4G speeds off of them); however, I've read rumors about towers already going up in OC, and the Riverside thing might be one such tower that they are testing. Sprint probably considers much of OC to be part of the LA market, and for good reason. Orange County has a larger population than San Diego County!

I have high hopes for 4G in OC this year (hopefully this summer!). Sprint told The Orange County Register that north OC all the way down to around Irvine will get wimax. Check it out here: Sprint takes lead to get 4G wireless Internet to O.C. - The Gadgetress : The Orange County Register

THANK YOU!!! Please let us know!!!
When i was at the BB store for my pre-order of the EVO i asked the salesperson about the 4G and when it was rolling out, he told me Oct. of this year, he said he heard that from a Sprint rep...I hope it does come earlier than that. But i'm still going to get it even if it comes later for 4G.

Yeah no matter what I'm getting this phone. Yeah sure I want 4G right now, but I can wait and still enjoy the hell outta this phone :D

I really can't wait to get the phone and see what I get at home. On the maps, the 4G coverage looks like it ends at the southern edge of my yard, is across the street to the east, nothing to the north, and goes up to the edge of my back yard to the west. I don't know how accurate the Clear map is, but if it is a little off I should have coverage (of course, if the glass is half empty then I will be a block or more from 4G - it just depends on which way the map is inaccurate).

What? my U301 3g/4g device. Yes its has.

since yesterday the speed is increasing for the download, upload is still around the same number. Hopefully by actual announcement date the numbers go up as high as whats been reported elsewhere in the country.

As for the signal at home, I got home too late and besides the forum was down anyway. so i did not take out my laptop to test at home.

I have a spreadsheet/image that I will upload later to the forum showing the 3g and 3g speedtests that i performed using my 3g/4g datacard/modemout in Baltimore, Oahu, Las Vegas since Nov, and now New York City

does anyone know if northern new jersey is included in the NYC wimax rollout. I live less than 5 miles outside of NYC. someone posted seacaucus as having coverage but thats about a half hour to 45 minutes south of me and that signal probably wouldnt reach. Thanks in advance for your input.

is there anyway i can see the coverage...i know i can see some of the towers but are there maps available

im in the same boat. i live about 65 miles east of DC and i know im not getting 4g out here for awhile but id like to see if im going to get it at all here in winchester va

Thanks for info there Colorado_Al looks like Capital Hill is ready, how about near I-36 and Sheridan and around Wadsworth and 76th. This is a good sign tho.:)

I lost the 4G signal before I-25 & Hwy 36.
Hopefully the whole I-25, I-70, and Hwy 36 area will have it before too long!

Sweet, glad to see it rolling out under cover  Updated in the official coverage thread.

ah, so close! but i'm in living in boulder until the end of the summer. i may have to take a special trip to denver just to test out the 4g. thanks!
