OFFICIAL Android Feature Wishlist Thread

I seriously envy the fluidness of iOS. Even with the latest version of JB, the scrolling is just not up to par with iOS. It feels more sluggish and more effort is needed to scroll. Even with my Nokia Lumia 610 running Windows 8 the fluidness of the scrolling is on par with Apple. If crappy Windows can match the smoothness of iOS then why can't Google?????

If you have an android there are many alarm apps that will go off even if the phone is on silent if you set it to do that.I think even the stock alarms for most androids have that option in the apps settings.

I have a payed for an alarm app (forgot the name) that does this and makes me solve math problems before it shuts off so I get out of my rediculously amazing bed lol.you can even snooze it and start the math process all over again.

Although I learned that in cases of incredible drowsiness removing the battery shuts it the hell up. Which inevitabley results in me being very late to whatever I'm supposed to be doing lol.

My wishlist: having the ability to remove useless crap apps that come with stock without having to root your device.Motorola especially. Also, software updates really need to be explained in detail either before or after instillation rather than forcing the user to look up the nitty gritty specifics online.

I am tired to brick my phone each time I want to update to a new version (but thanks to CM to allow me to do it) !

-I would appreciate a bit more control on apps so they do not start in background by themselves !

But let hope that some genius dev or new superfast chipset will make it the same in the future.
 
It's really funny to read the first post and see that we have almost all these features... Some have come and also gone... Boy does time fly... I remember the g1 commercials...
 
I still want a USB digital out feature for music files so I can play the music on a serious system. I had heard Jelly bean did this but danged if I can figure out how to make it so...
 
Just an update..I have found that I can use the USB Audio Recorder App with a Fiio E07K Dac/Headphone amp to play files up to 24/96 on my Droid Razor HD in Hi-Rez...If USB A.R. can output a digital signal through the phones USB port, then so can Android if they want to...
 
to run exe files on Android, you'd need a compatibility layer that implements the Windows API, something like WINE on Linux. Maybe a phone/tablet optimized WINE that could run directly on the Linux kernel on rooted devices, kind of dual boot, or WINE on Ubuntu running on a tablet. I doubt any of the current hardware has the grunt to do that though. Also, it'd be a pig of a job to port or develop.
 
My sole gripe with Android, after 2 years of Android phones and various ROMs, is the volume control. 16 possibilities = terrible. I want a volume control where you can choose the volume, percent by percent.
Of course, there's Fine Volume Control v2 that already does this, but 1. it's an external app; 2. it's a paid one; 3. every god-damn standard MP3 player has a volume control this accurate.

Oh and also, I really wish there was an audio pan control available.

These two wishes, if they were to be answered, would make me the happiest of the audiophiles.
 
I would like to delete apps right from the home screen like you can with iOS. I don't like going into settings > Storage > App > Uninstall. So annoying, and have to do it for every app too.

I want to also see better touch gestures. For example, if I am in a app, and I want to quickly get to the home screen and close the app, like using an iPad, you use four fingers and close them in, and that will take you to the home screen, and close the app, I think this is a cool feature. Also, they can use this for changing apps, use four fingers, swipe from left to right to either bring up a menu of the open apps, or just switch to the previous app you were using.

When you press and hold an app from the app drawer like you are going to place it on the home screen, there should be two options at the top: App Info and Uninstall. If you use an aftermarket launcher (I use Nova), when you press and hold on an app on a home screen, you get a pop-up menu that gives you an option to uninstall.

I guess the gestures might be nice, but I'm fine with being able to close an app with just one finger. ;)
 
I just started a thread about this, but... When your phone auto connects to a bluetooth source like your car, Nav is treated like phone calls and directions are read to you, the music stops, etc etc. Loved that on my windows phone.
 
There should not be neither Linux nor Virtual Java Machine.
The first is old.
The second is slow.

Both are essential parts of Android, so I guess it can't be helped, so maybe the Android itself is the thing that should not be.

I have a fairly simple wishlist.
I have icecream sandwich on my Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. I do not use Microsoft Office at all.:confused: I also do not use the Fun & Games App:confused: or one of the two Play Store Apps (where one of the apps does not even connect to the app store:confused::confused:). And yet, I cannot un-install these applications and they are loaded on the phone memory only. These apps cannot be moved to the SD card and my poor little phone has run out of memory space.:mad:
Can there be some way to remove these stupid apps when they are not being used, or at the very least allow them to be moved to the SD card instead of hogging the phone memory.:mad:

You are a wild dreamer....Next you will want to only pay for the cable channels you use or...have the internet service advertising high speed at a high price to deliver the speed and not charge extra for the content...

Well it would be cool if I only had to pay for the XM stations I listen to. I don't own a cell phone.
 
Hey guys
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace bouth in May 2011.
It has GingerBread 2.3.3
The problem is even when I am not charging my phone it says 100% charged unplug charger ! Its so weird I tried restarting my phone many times but it does not start it shows zero battery ! when there should be atleast 75% battery.
Then to make the phone start I have to put it on charge.
Help !
 
Just adding to the list. Does anyone know if Google people actually read these? If not, they definitely should be. Also, does anyone know if there is an actual official suggestion site that Google runs? That would be amazing.

1. Something that allows you to set a certain time for wifi to turn on and off. For example, I leave for work at 5:45 A.M. every day, at which point Android could shut off my wifi so it's not eating my battery, but when I get home at 8:00 P.M., it will turn back on. This could be automatically detecting when you most often use networks but I think it would be most simple if you could just set your own times. Nothing too fancy

2. Suspend/hibernate. Store the session to the disk and all the phone to go to a super-powersaver mode that will keep for days at 10%, rather than minutes. This could be helpful in emergency situations where you need to save battery until you are near a cell tower.

3. This one's for chrome. A better PDF viewer, so you don't have to download and save the file, then forget it exists so you use up storage space.

4. Another for chrome- fullscreen mode! It's about time! Apple's Safari does this very nice, sad that Google can't keep up

5. Allow an easier way to make apps non-system, so we can delete those annoying useless "411 and more" and whatever else comes preinstalled to take up our storage space.

6. Permanent disable of apps, if we won't be allowed to just delete them.

That's just the top of my list... I'll be back for more

Also... how about support for Java in browsers? Though I guess that depends on Oracle.
 
You can configure the SIM card profiles separately in the Android system? For example Vodafone Card leave it in the normal profile Telef
