Official Clockwork Rune Announcement Thread

I know that we have been somewhat lacking in the display of our character models, so I decided to out this beaut:

Hope you like it!

I know we promised an alpha at the beginning of February, and I apologize, but we lost our lead modeler. We have since hired a replacement and once we get him caught up on everything, we will have our first alpha out for all of your viewing pleasure.

Also, the new Bonafide Website is now live, so go ahead and check it out at http://www.bonafide-software.com.

The forums are still being worked on, so they are not live yet. Hopefully they will be ready to go public soon.

Hey Jon, I have been following this thread since it was started and it's been a little quite lately but I'm hoping thats a good thing:) Anyway I was just wondering if you had anything new you could share with us. I hope all is going well with the development and thanks in advance!

Hey, everyone. Yes, we are still alive. However, we decided to redesign a lot of the game, so we did take a few steps back... We are still fleshing out a few of the new concepts, but we hope to get back to the development soon! We are also reconsidering our release model, so the alpha may have to wait depending on what we decide.

I apologize for the lack of contact as of late, however, we have been really busy lately trying to get back on track!

EDIT: Also, we are adding a LOT of functionality int he redesign of the game. Yes, we added more classes to those of you who were worrisome. ;)

Awesome news I was hoping ya'll were busy. Thanks for the heads up. I don't mind waiting longer for a polished game on release day although I gotta say the suspense on this one is killing me lol.

Well, the thing is, instead taking the normal approach of announcing the game when it was near completion, we took the liberty to announce it before we even started designing it. By doing this, we were able to get feedback and consider suggestions from the community (you). The downside to this approach is that there is much more suspense built up because it is going to take much longer from the time of announcement, to the time of release.

All I can ask is that everyone bears with us.

Thanks!

I was wondering if this was still alive? i went on to the website but no matter where i click it just says forums coming soon! and i think that this game would be amazing.

Apologies for the disappearance, however we have been really busy!

We are still, however, having trouble keeping modelers, as no one seems to have the time to undertake the project. At any rate, we have been working hard on the story, as well as the world development. Brent, our level designer, is currently working hard on the terrain for the world and we should hopefully have something to show for that soon enough. I have been slaving away on the inventory system and some of the AI (Such as the FSM). The project is still alive, just proceeding slower than we anticipated.

Is this still live becuase ive been waiting forever for this so i hope its not dead becuase if it is i will scream and cry and DIE.. yes 2 periods DIE.= Death Is Evil

I'd like to be optimistic and assume it is. Take in mind that games take a while to develope. RPGs take even more time. MMO's even more time on top of that. Based on two of his last posts I'm assuming that it is still being worked on, but will still be a while before it is complete.

Development started in the beginning of December of 2010. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't released until December of this year.

Hopefully it will be up a bit before that. i like order and chaos but it gets old because its a wow clone, lacks originality i guess. that and no one on gameloft comes to the forums to ask for suggestions for their next game =P at least not to my knowledge.

They don't need to. They'll copy and paste the newest, trendiest game and shrink it down for mobile phones.

yeah no doubt, are you still looking for possible beta testers cause i would love to test this out. It looks awesome just looking at the picks of the world and the artwork.

I posted this in the older thread before I knew about this one so what its worth...

My .02 on likes for MMORPG's

My fav MMO of all time is UO (Ultima Online). I know you probably have all the individual characters skills and all that set, but I love how in UO any character can gain any skill...

There's one "class" in particular that I always wanted to see in another MMO. You could learn hiding and go invisible, then use stealth and walk around invisible, then open someone else's character screen and look in their personal bag, then use the stealing skill and take stuff from their bag.

Personally, a MMO has to have PVP for me to play it. The best kind is where you don't have to agree to a duel or anything, but in certain areas (outside of city limits), just like in real life, anyone could just start attacking you.

Another really big perk to UO was the fact you could buy boat and house deeds and place them anywhere in the world that had space. So you could put your own house right by your fav dungeon if you wanted.

One other thing was that you could mark runes in any location you were standing and then wherever you were in the world you could cast a teleport spell and click on that rune and you would go to where that rune was marked for (ie. middle of dungeons, another city, your house or boat)

Hope that helps. If any of that could be incorporated in it would all be a plus in my eyes. I'll definitly check this game out though. It sounds like it's going to be better than anything I've seen thus far...

It has been a long time (6 and a bit months) since the founders of bonafide software have updated us on the game Clockwork Rune I really hope this hasn't been a disbanded project and if it has I would be very disappointed because i have been watching the first forums in which jonbonnanza (sorry if not spelt correctly) mentioned the development of Clockwork Rune in 2010. I would really like a response from Bonafide software really quickly or I might lose hope in this project.
