Help Official Froyo installed

After half heartedly messing about trying to get Kies working on Windows 7 for a while I went into excitement mode when I read this forum page. So finaly got the phone, windows 7 and Kies (updated to 1.5.3.10103_100) to work together.

Then, clicked firmware upgrade and I just got,
Model Name : GT-19000
Current Version :PDA:JM1/PHONE:JM1/CSC@JMI
The latest version is already installed on connected
device.

So why have some people got the froyo update and I haven't? Any ideas before I send the PC to Silicon heaven?? Or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Im sitting beside someone with an htc desire also on froyo. It seems to do everything noticably faster than my SGS His benchmark pi score is around 1100 mine is around 1400. Even just moving between screens seems better on the desire. My SGS now feels a bit more sluggish than it did on 2.1 with lagfix. Is there a 2.2 lagfix?

You can run OCLF on 2.2 without a problem. Look it up.

You just need to check whether you're able to access the 3 button recovery mode. I heard a rumour that 2.2 will disable this feature. Can anyone else comment on that?

Thanks Kryzzay83.
Ive just been on a BBC web page which informed me i dont have flash player installed. How can I check this anyone?
No flash and slower than 2.1?
My GPS used to work fine I wonder how that will be now.:(

My Desire doubled in quadrant score plus battery has improved.

Waiting to see how that goes with the SGS...

Woot! Hope bells sends it out to HTC Legend soon.

Update isnt pushed by Bell - It will be pushed by HTC
O_o Unless HTC hand Bell their customized OS and THEN bell probably can push it out.

Generally Speaking you are looking at HTC making customized HTC Sense for Froyo... just like how Samsung was delayed with its own customized OS.

Well surprise surprise the GPS is much worse as well.
So to recap. Its slower it has no flash player and the gps is worse. That sounds like the anti Froyo to me.
Am I missing something ,have I been very unlucky or is samsung taking the mick?

I upgraded last night the upgrade went fine however on reboot I got loads of force close errors and was totally unable to get into the phone . so I took the battery out and

I did a 3 button recovery (so it still works)

and yes I did lose all my apps but the phone alot quicker. I am yet to check the gps but so far all seems good. Battery life seems better too, but that could be because I haven't installed any extra apps yet.

go into settings / applications / manage applications / all and I can see Adobe flash player 10.1

The update seems pretty poor for me aswell, phone is deffinetly more sluggish and the only benefit i've noticed so far is skype kind've working. Guess I'll have to try one of the lag fix's in a few days.

Have you gone into your browser settings and checked that plug-ins are enabled?

Browser | More->Settings->Enable plug-ins->Always On

And slower? It's about the same for me, although my friend with a HTC Desire commented that the flash was very smooth in comparison to his.

As for GPS, worse? What have you done to test the GPS? For the first time ever with the SGS I've managed to get a lock, and have the lock held whilst I've walked around town, so for me that's a huge improvement, no more bouncing around cell towers.

Yeah I also updated to JPO last night, feels the same as JPM and the GPS is still crap.

Signal is worse though.

Sorry for sounding stupid but this is my first phone with Android. Can someone confirm how you update to Froyo through Kies please?
Thanks.

on the kies desktop , look for an icon near the bottom right hand corner of the screen it look like an mobile phone with an arrow pointing up by it`s right side, that is the firmware update but i think as i am getting my SGS today.

go to samsungmobileuk and download the latest version of KIES software.

It only runs on windows machines.

Once downloaded, connect phone, let it find device and then click on firmware upgrade in bottom right corner.

Follow the instructions from there on in.

Thanks. I've done all that. Latest version of Kies installed. But still no update showing.
Could only some of the UK be getting it? I'm in England and on O2.
Thanks again.

This is what I was thinking, i am running a sim free one with 02 network, but no update last night.

Was going to try again later, I thought that the sim frees would get it first and the network locked afterwards. maybe they are just doing it bit by bit ?
