No matter what I can't get this installed

Worked and downloaded just fine from the playstore on my phone. Seems a little slicker than the swype from the playstore i use i will give it a try for a little bit to see if i will change permanently....thanks

I dont know what rom im on anymore lmao...no im on stock b09 but i have the xposed framework installed so it is pretty much superrom...

ps: Nice keyboard but i still prefer the paid version of swype on the playstore will definitely keep this as my backup keyboard though replacing the stock one

installed and works fine for me from play store on SuperROM. Did you try to sideload APOPHiS420? Grab the apk and install from sd? Actually it looks like it's already installed. Have you gone into Language & input to see if Google Keyboard is there?

edit: If it's not there you could try renaming the existing /system/app/LatinIME.apk and try again. Make sure you have another keyboard installed in the meantime lol. You could also check to see if this file /data/app/com.google.android.inputmethod.latin-1.apk already exists. If so delete and try again.

if your having that issue. go into TB use it. Delete the system app. Then install the keyboard.

Always make the back-up. But I usually keep a few extracted keyboards on my SD anyway in APK format (eg the dropbox link).

I'm gonna throw a few onto dropbox right now. I'll put the 4.2 one in there. the AOSP and the new Google one incase theres any problems.

If you delete the system app rather than renaming it is more difficult to revert back in case of problems. I use ES File Explorer to do this sort of thing instead of TB. Just personal preference ;)

I keep the apk file. If I have to revert the actual file is there to revert with.

Personal preferences is awesome here it gets more opinions working on the same stuff and more gets done. Kinda beautiful if you ask me.

Okay so then the last two are virtually the same. Does that mean that the beta Google keyboard are virtually the same? Does that also mean the Google keyboard is beta?

errrrr.........ok

basically yes they will be the same. The Android version was the first (alpha) actual version of gesture (swype) typing that came out with their name. Google right now is trying to basically force updates down phone maufacture's throats. The best way to do that, Play Store. So they released it, it runs WAY smoother, and through it on the play store so everyone can have it. And Phone manufactors can swallow that fact.

Ok well I tried installing it from the market both with the stock keyboard installed, as well as removing stock and trying again with success. I tried installing from sd using the same methods again. Looked in the data/app directory to see if the com.Google apk was in there but it isn't. No matter what method I tried I cleared my cache and dalvik as well but no luck.

SuperR also mentioned (I think...) going into Settings- language & input- and selecting (check) the keyboard. I had to leave stock keyboard in (first) as well as Uncheck then RECHECK the new keyboard as default before uninstalling any old ones. (I used jellybean 4.2 paid app) Maybe this one is behaving the same way..

thats why you download the actual apk. Not just the PlayStore versionjust click on the dropbox link in the first post. It's the one titled Google Keyboard.

I'm sorry if I haven't been clear in my other posts though I'm sure I have mentioned that I have tried to install it by downloading the app to my sd card and install it manually instead of going through the app store.
