Official "I've been *Bleeped* by Best Buy for preordering my phone there" thread

So...yeah.

Needless to say, I preordered mine there because of the $50 gift credit for signing up your email addy like 5 months ago.

This would be the FIRST time preordering anything via Best Buy...and after seeing how Verizon Wireless folks already got their phones ( how I NORMALLY do this )...and how the launch is being pushed back till at LEAST the 12th...I'll NEVER be doing business with Best Buy again.

And, to top it all off, I'm POSITIVE someone will eff up my account when they upgrade my phone from a Droid 2 to this thing, and lose my unlimited data, and I'll have to jump through hoops to get it put back on.

Yup. Eff Best Buy.

Well the delay isn't Best Buy's fault. It's Verizon's or Samsungs.

You need to let your feelings out! How do you REALLY feel about Best Buy?:p

Actually I think the delay is more crapple's fault as they're suing Samsung, and trying to hold VZW hostage in the process.
That has nothing to do with this phone. That is regarding the Galaxy Nexus over the Univeral Search function. Do a little more fact checking vs making blind assumptions.

Best Buy and launch phones (that are hot items) are problematic, since they are just a big middle man. I made the same apparent mistake, so not too bad if by 7/12. The problem will be if VZW choked BB out of their allocation to cover their own orders and store launch. THEN we must go gorilla!!!!

Interesting because my info came from multiple folks at BB and VZW. Sorry if I offended a crapple fan... Apple is suing over S voice and trying to make Samsung remove it. Have a nice day:smokingsomb:

Your folks at Best Buy and Verizon are wrong. My folks at Google (I'm not joking) said this is completely incorrect - regarding any supply constraints for the S3 having to do with an Apple lawsuit.

Also, just wondering, do you own stock in Google?

The release is not pushed back. Demand is exceeding availability on the website, meaning it will be longer until they have stock available for the stores. ( Pre-orders get priority over the stores. ) They said nothing at all about Best Buy. Wait for actual details before crying that the sky is falling. ( Not saying it isn't...just wait until we actually hear something related to us. )

Where did you see that? The last I saw was Apple backed off the S3 lawsuit in order to nail the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus sales ban did not include the S3.

Not quite. Apple tried to add the S3 to the existing lawsuit over the GNex, but got denied.

Actually, Judge Koh gave Apple two options: 1) Try to attach the S3 to the GNex complaint and get their entire lawsuit table pushed back or 2) proceed with just the GNex. Apple chose #2. It wasn't denied, it was that Judge Koh didn't want to deal with another lawsuit from Apple.

I've never owned an Apple product in my life. Try trolling harder.

Has anyone had any experience trying to return a $50 pre-order gift card. If Best Buy still doesn't have any stock on Wednesday night I'm planning on just going to Verizon Thursday morning to pick up my S3. Then I plan on trying to return the gift card.

I'm almost positive it's a normal gift card. Their entire point of doing this is so that you can't just take that money somewhere else, but still have to spend it at Best Buy, even if you cancel the pre-order. So, I'm fairly certain you won't be able to just return the gift card for the cash...but you should be able to spend that gift card on absolutely anything at Best Buy.

Now, I wouldn't be at all surprised if a manager could fudge this a bit and refund you the cash anyways if you try hard enough.

Fingers crossed my hunch is correct though, and we still get our phones tomorrow:)

The Best Buys around me (5) of them all show a street date of 7/12 as of yesterday have no stock either. So tomorrow is just very wishful thinking I'm afraid.

I think the problem with getting the SG3 in the lawsuit as well was that it would delay the decision by about two months. If Apple could have they would. Getting rid of Svoice is fine with me, if that is the main issue. Not though.

I'm not talking street date, but pre-orders. Much like pre-orders on the website are still going out early, I'm hoping the Best Buy pre-orders will still honor their original dates ( I was told the 10th, so that's what I'm hoping for. )

Really though...2 days isn't exactly a big deal. I've been waiting over a year for a new phone:) If it gets pushed back further than that though...I'm going to have to look elsewhere as well.

I just got off the phone with the manager at a Best Buy in the mall he told me that he just got the email that states the launch date was pushed to the 12th. (I was hoping he thought it was still the 10th) he said he had 6 on order in his system. I assume thats 6 preorders...He thought he would get them on or before Thursday.

He offered me a loaner phone if they didn't get theirs on Thursday after I mentioned I would probably go to Verizon even though I really wanted to buy from them. No way! No loaner phone!

And the kicker?

BGR is reporting that the unlimited data grand father in is as of right NOW...today, officially dead.

Even if you preordered the phone from verizon themselves and they promised you you could keep the unlimited data.

Yup.

Unfortunately for me, Verizon is the only game in town, otherwise, they could go pound sand as far as I'm concerned.:mad::mad::mad:

Link?

So I preordered 2 phones on 6/10. Receiving them today. So what you're saying is that when I go to activate them, I WON'T get my unlimited data? I have it in writing on my emailed receipt right after I preordered.

Found it...Verizon unlimited LTE data ends

Not sure about anyone else, but I NEVER received any email stating that.

FYI, it looks like it was ONE reader that reported that, but doesn't appear to be the official word from Verizon. I'll find out for sure this afternoon when I activate 2 S3s.

That article is incorrect. BGR is notorious for jumping the gun and posting false information. It just takes a phone call to get unlimited reinstated as long as the pre-order was placed previous to 6/28. Here's the link nonetheless.
