Official "I've been *Bleeped* by Best Buy for preordering my phone there" thread

That article is incorrect. BGR is notorious for jumping the gun and posting false information. It just takes a phone call to get unlimited reinstated as long as the pre-order was placed previous to 6/28. Here's the link nonetheless.

Verizon unlimited LTE data ends

Just another reason to dislike that site. It is the most biased and misinformed mobile site I've seen. All in the name of generating web hits it seems.

Found it...Verizon unlimited LTE data ends

Not sure about anyone else, but I NEVER received any email stating that.

FYI, it looks like it was ONE reader that reported that, but doesn't appear to be the official word from Verizon. I'll find out for sure this afternoon when I activate 2 S3s.
I never got an email like that. I'm thinking something screwy was going on with that person. Notice that it says, "Your request to keep the unlimited data plan..." I never requested anything. I signed a new contract when I ordered the phone.

If for some reason the S3 ends up not working out for me, I have at least learned a valuable lesson here...Don't pre-order from Best Buy!

They have had their part in making this a miserable waiting game, irregardless if Verizon or Samsungs at fault for the delay it clearly states on my pre-order form that Best Buy would contact me regarding any delays with my order. I haven't heard squat from them...the only way I have gotten any info out of those zombies is by calling multiple times and pressuring them for information.

Hahahaha. So I just called my local Best Buy (Honolulu, HI) and asked if they knew when they would have the S3 available for us that preordered there.

The response - "Well, we actually have them here, but we can't give any out until the release day on the 12th."

Me - "Even if I have preordered the device, you are telling me that you have them in stock and I cannot get it until release day?"

Them - "uh...yeah."

The mobile department at my Best Buy has been awesome and really worked with me but this is crazy. My phone is in stock, I have a preorder, and you cant give it to me? WTF???

Why do they call it a pre-order when we can't get ours (even if they have them) until everyone launches them? That's no pre-order lol stupid!

A pre-order guarantee's you the item, not that you will get it before its official street date.

Companies get in trouble for breaking street dates. Best Buy is just going by the book.

That is true, but the lack of communication on Best Buy's part is pretty bad.

I asked if I would get my phone the same time as if I ordered from Verizon when I was in the Best Buy store, they told me yes I would.

If I hard ordered from Verizon I would have got the phone last Friday.

So call me naive and dumb to have trusted Best Buy. Never again.

Actually, you MIGHT have gotten your phone by Friday. Also, that's entirely on Verizon.

We saw the exact same thing for the release of the original Incredible. Some luck pre-orders arrived as much as a week early. More got theirs day 0 ( me ). Most people got theirs day 1.

No rhyme or reason was ever found, and Verizon never said what determined who got theirs when. We tried order dates, locations, order numbers, all sorts of stuff. We never did figure it out. Some were just lucky.

Also, try to remember: 5 people saying on a forum visited by many thousands does not mean everyone that pre-ordered have gotten theirs. It's just a lucky few. Plenty of people in the release thread pre-ordered awhile ago, and still don't even have a shipping confirmation.

Hopefully with the date being so close, they are done moving things around though. Lets see how the next 3 days ago. Then we can grab our pitch forks and head for Verizon:) ( Remember, Verizon..very strictly...dictates the terms for Best Buy to release the devices. They want you to order direct from them so they don't have to pay BB. )

Then they are only going by the book in ways that benefits them

Even if you luck out and a Best Buy lets you get a preorder before Thursday, they will not be able to activate it. Perhaps if you just take the device and do it yourself, or a VZW store, since not sure if they can even tell where you bought it from.

Not sure....

Yeah they would, Best Buy GS3's aren't in an exclusive group that doesn't allow activation. If they somehow didn't note the release date and sold you the phone early the activation should work in their system.
