Official: Motorola Droid 2.1 Update Coming This Week!

Saw this yesterday. looks like a stripped down version of 2.1
Would not surprise me if the Hero gets a similar version.
 
Is there much difference between the stripped down version and the full 2.1? I think it's getting a wee bit closer for us Hero users, or then again maybe not :)

As far as i can tell with motorola no animated backgrounds and no flash.
I just wish google/HTC would get on with it as the Android market is starting to get fragmented some apps I'm after are 1.6 and up wards.

That's the very reason we all need an update - regardless of all the "be patient and it will come" crew keep saying:mad:
 
I know for some time Ive been blaming HTC for all these delays but I'm getting the feeling it is Google trying to control the market.

Lets face it had HTC released 2.1 in Dec/Jan it would have screwed googles N1 launch.
 
I'd just like to know what is up with these 1.6/2.0 only apps. Is it that they are technically incompatible or is it purely market manipulation? Even with a new version of Windows you don't encounter this level of non-backward compatibility of new programs.

I believe it is because of new APIs.
