Official - My Droid Razr is here!!! thread

So excited to see all of you RAZRites getting your phones early.

Definitely picking up a Galaxy Nexus, but can't wait to see your reviews of this device.

Enjoy them! I'll be lurking around here for a bit too. :)

Got mine on Wednesday - love it so far! I tried not to put anything on it for one day and check battery life. It was decent with wifi and bluetooth off - def a huge difference with it on but really like the phone. Switched from AT&T's Samsung Infuse.

I just got mine!!!

Oh wait, I missed the delivery by about an hour....will have mine by 8pm tonite...lol I plan on staying up probably all night messing around with it and giving my opinions. Will chime in this evening sometime.

haha Mine jsut got here too, and I'm like a kid in a candy store. ALSO eliciting wicked laughs from the office. YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far I'm going with:

1) Size: Its wicked thin, even WITH the bumper at the top. I have big hands, and it fits great, but its no little thing.

2) Screen: Some reviews have penned it as awful, some as great. I'm a fanboy, ok, I get it. But the Screen is GORGEOUS

3) Data is fast in my Southern California (orange County) location, even inside this generally awful reception-ish building.

4) Moto's skin is...different and will take some getting used to, but I think I'll like it. I'm coming over from a Droid Incredible, and Its no Sense, but it incorporates a lot of things I used in market apps/skin, so once I play more, I'll update this.

5) No comment yet on battery, but I'm not optimistic. I'm also a road warrior, but I have chargers everywhere, and I can get by in the car, at my desk, or at home, with a charger everywhere I go.

6) Did I mention its thin? WOW.

7) Took a couple quick pictures, and the camera seems really responsive, and super fast. To that end? they were a little blurry but I didn't wait for it to focus, just rattled off a few in quick secession.

8) Smart Actions - - seems pretty cool, very easy to setup. Only set one rule thus far, but more to come. This MIGHT be the ticket to helping battery on this device as some mentioned,, but your mileage may vary.

More to come. I am LOVING this thing.

^Yea....I live n work in a bad reception area and reception in my apt is bad. That said, my Droid X1 works better in my apt than my girlfriends Samsung Sidekick. Different carrier and all (T Mo) but still....Moto is known for having better reception than most other phones.

Also...4G wasnt good on the Sidekick in my apt either. I'm hoping that LTE, Verizon and my RAZR have better luck than the Sidekick.

a couple of issues i'm really interested in, and would welcome your feedback:

1. battery life (obviously). i know it's still brand new, and will take some time to settle in, but i would be interested how fast it's draining under some initial and what i presume to be heavy use.

2. heat. over in the GNex thread, some people tested units in VZW stores and said that the glass gets pretty hot with constant use. true or no??

thanks for the info!!

1- BAttery - - still not sure, but I'm with on this one. I've had it for an hour, and like a dork, didn't check the battery strength when I opened it, which I'd say was around half. After some heavy use, you kow, downloading about 20 app,s synching my corporate exchange, my contacts, etc, it was at 40% pretty quickly. Again, no idea on starting point, but let's just say I'm not enthusaistic.

2. Heat - - screen was...warmer? but by no means hot. Haters gonna hate. Put it this way, I wrist test bottles for my 9 month old all the time, and I'd say if this was a bottle? I'd give it to her. Gross, I know. But what can I say?

More Pro's Cons...

Pros:
LTE is FAST. I was amazed at how fast all my apps loaded/installed
Super responsive

Cons:
Don't like the app drawer so far. This might change with customization, but again, I'm used to my Dinc. its...different, but not in a good way thus far.
Bloatware - lots of apps installed, but the one PLUS of the app drawer is that you can hide any app you want, and its got multiple sort functions, so while its still there, on the phone, I don't have to look at it, sort through it, at all.

i have 3 kids, and have wrist-tested hundreds of bottles - perfectly clear analogy for me! :)

thanks for the reply!

Lithium based batteries are usually stored at around 40% charge so maybe it actually hasn't discharged as much as you think.

I forgot to check when I tested a RAZR at the Verizon store, but I'm assuming that Moto is still going with 10% battery increments?

I can't get mine to turn on... maybe the battery is dead? I hooked the usb cord up to my computer and then the phone, and the LED comes on and is white... anyone know what that means?
