Official nexus 10 cover

Just saw this in my news app. I don't think I'll be buying one. I like the Moko case I already have and it was a lot cheaper. Plus, the exposed rubberized back of the N10 is hard to keep clean, for me anyway.

I think that most people have purchased one or two or 5 cases by now and probably won't buy another.

I'm still debating whether or not to buy a Nexus 10. My wife has a Nexus 7 and I have a ipad mini(actually love the mini besides the screen resolution), but I have been thinking about going back to a 10 inch tablet, just not sure yet.

If I did I am going to get the Nexus 10, not sure about the case though, would be better priced at $19.99

Am I wrong in assuming that cover doesn't have fold-to-stand capability?

If not... I am baffled at Samsung/Google's neglect. It took 6+ months after release just to provide THAT? A bare bones screen cover that can't even fold behind to stand the tablet up? Arggh.

Yes, you'd be wrong, as you can fold the cover behind to stand the tablet up. I don't know how robust it would work on a very smooth surface though.

I meant to say to anyone who's familiar with the Galaxy S3 flip cover, this is very similar, although a bit beefier.

Apple smart covers cost more, come on let's support Google I'm a fan of both I have apple and android devices in my home, I have the GS3 and iPhone 5, Nexus 10 for my tablet.

Yeah apples does cost more, but honestly it appears to be more useful with apples, theirs actually folds up.

But I think both are over priced.

I have the official cover and really am glad I picked it up. I like the near-naked feel while still having screen protection. However, don't expect to be able to use the cover as a stand. While it does work in some situations, on anything smooth it's prone to sliding, and the angle is off for viewing in most normal scenarios (on your lap or on a desk).

I picked up the cover with the expectation I'll be holding it, but I did so most of the time even with my Poetic case that has a stand.

Adding a photo so you can see what it looks like using it as a stand. As you can see the angle (and this is about as shallow as I can get without it starting to slide) is a little steep.

Other companies make smart covers that operate just like Apple's. I have one for my GNex 10, but also has a back cover.

All Samsung / Google needed to do was to break up the solid flap into 3 or 4 pieces and your in business.

If anyone's still watching this thread, I have a question:

Does the cover detach easily like the iPad cover? Does it make use of the magnets? Does the backing come off and expose the magnets and everything when you detach it, or is it more elegant than that?

Cover attaches where the plastic comes out of the back at the top of the 10. Just uses plastic clips like a battery cover or something similar. Easiest way to see is to just pop off the standard section. There is a cutout on one side where you can start to lift it from.

Got it. Thanks. So once it's clipped in, is there any way to remove the cover without detaching that whole clipped-in section, or do you just fold it back around to get it out of the way?

Yes you just fold it around to get it out of the way and it will to a certain degree work as a stand too as long as the surface is not too smooth. The only way to remove it is to clip it off and put the standard plastic back in.
