[OFFICIAL] The "I Got Mine" and First Impressions Thread

Loving my note 8, there's a few little personalization settings I wish we had, that I'm hoping gets added to an update (customize lock screen clock first and foremost *not AOD*) . Otherwise this phone is amazing.

I got mine because my beloved launch day Note 3 suddenly died. Charging circuits went wrong. So this a huge generational leap including the OS.

Lovely and fast . Finding the edges annoying but I'll get used to it - particularly when my UAG arrives. S-Pen is as good as ever. I need to get into the camera but I LIKE that it will shoot RAW which is all I ever use on my proper cameras. Few things seemed a bit iffy and anyway I have installed three other cameras and will see.

Optical 2x zoom is seriously impressive for a phone.

Finding the internal 64Gb a huge improvement as the old one was very limiting and a constant pain. It's good to be doing a clean install after four years rather than Smart Switch. My memory card survived the Note 3 wreck with data intact. Phew.

I haven't found any of the considerable number of apps I use has broken on it yet.

The OS control to allow you to shut down apps that are doing background activities is excellent.

Android file transfer is more robust with this.

The lock screen clock needs to be sorted and I need to be able to put whatever one I want there.

Finding how to use it as a speaker phone (not actually for driving) is proving a bit silly. No pull-down panel toggle. What's that about?

Not sure I'm a fan of the very long aspect ratio.

Over all, great phone so far. And for me, Notes are the only game in town. It's all about the S-Pen if you want fine control e.g. if picture editing.

Seriously impressed with the radio on the Note 8. I was just driving home talking to my partner via Parrot car kit.

Realised I was about to enter a long bit of road on which my previous Samsung invariably dropped out. Every time.

Solid as a rock. The Note 8 just kept going. Almost as good as an old dumb Nokia.

The Samsung Note 8 is the Swiss Army knife of phones: just a beautiful, feature-packed monstrosity of fun and functionality. I purchased mine from Samsung Direct and received a $300 discount for trading in my trusty LG G4 and got a free Gear 360 to boot. I have an LG V20 to cover the wide angle thing while my Note's dual camera set up nicely covers the zoom shots. This is just an all around great piece of technology and I'm so glad I purchased it. Hats off to Samsung.

I'm a little late with this... got my Note 8 a few weeks ago and really love it. My only other Android experience was several years ago with an S5, and hated it. Been on iPhones since 3G, the last being 6s+. Prior to the first iPhone, had many Pocket PC, Palm, Windows Mobile, Symbian, etc.. devices. I've also had an Apple Watch for 2 years and loved that.

I really love the Note 8 and Gear S3 Frontier after having them for a few weeks... actually loved them after one day.

I have a 2017 Surface Pro for my primary computer, and one great thing about the Note 8 is the ability for me to create/edit pen based notes in OneNote across both devices.

The only things I've not felt were great were the speakers on the Note 8 (acceptable for speaker phone, but not very loud for music) and messaging with my iPhone based family. I haven't had any real problems with the messaging, but I'm the green bubble guy.

There are so many things I love about the Note 8 ... I like the former post saying its the swiss army knife of phones. Very good way to put it.

Been a while since I posted but I'm considering upgrading from the Note 5 to the Note 8, I decided to research here first. All the reviews are exactly what I expected but one thing came to light in this very thread about Verizon screwing with the performance of the phone, I use to have Verizon but am now on Sprint.

With that said has anyone noticed any monkey business as far as Sprint having Samsung modify to the point of the Verizon debacle?

Thanks for looking.

Ta hell with it, I decided to just buy an unlocked model direct from Samsung, they're giving me $300 trade in for my Note 5.

Got it today, been arranging all my apps around, I wish the Samsung switch app would switch over the groups of apps I made up, but no it only copies over the app, now I gotta regroup everything, oh well I expected it, not my first Note, started with a Note 3.

So far I'm really liking it, the ear buds they give you are really nice high quality sound, if I didn't already have the wireless Samsung Icon X ear buds I'd probably use them. I'll hang on to them just because they do sound good and have the same ear cushions the Icon has so it's a natural feel.

The only thing I dislike is the new C style usb it has, I have a crap load of micro usb plugs here at home and at work, now I gotta drag that little adapter every where, WTG Samsung (sarcasm of the highest caliber) :(

The different settings are gonna take some getting use to, expected with any upgrade. Over all, extremely happy!!!
