Root Official TWRP Recovery

Scotty, some of your issues may have been resolved. If you didn't try the 1.1.1 build released yesterday here is the changelog


10/9: Updated to version 1.1.1-rbox.1
  • Sync'd to the official TWRP 1.1.1.
  • The follow is the list of features ontop of the base 1.1.1 that are from all my previous builds.
    • Added a ClockworkMod Theme
    • Added a haptic feedback toggle
    • Show the charging status in the header
    • Added a capacitive button backlight toggle
    • Show minutes and seconds during backup/restore
    • Allow continuous scrolling
    • Fixed a bug where the capacitive buttons stopped working
    • Added touchscreen support

so the unofficial version has synced itself up with the offically supported version,plus fixed the capacative button bug and retained touch support. still leaves me a lil confused about wether to stay official,or go back to unofficial :eek:

thinking im going back to unofficial. i miss my touch scroll.
 
Everything is the same on 1.1.1 as in the unofficial version except with more options. Buttons work, touch scroll works, continuous scroll works. Just sayin'. I guess you can stay with r3 if it works just this is quicker and you can add multiple zips. I really like that feature.
 
Where did you find an update that added touch support and fixed the capacitice button issue? I checked just now and the only version is 1.1.1 from 10/5 :confused:
 
That's the unofficial. There haven't been any updates to the official yet.

I think I will go back to unofficial for now. I'd assume the unofficial will restore the official backups :eek:
 
In the rootz thread there were people having issues restoring backups made with it last I read. So keep the zip for another version on hand until you have made sure it can restore it's own backups
 
I'm confused with un ver reg official. All I know is it works fine for me. It better, flashing Thundersense 2.0 this weekend.

un ver reg official? I am confused also:o

I don't think it helped that the offical 1.1.1 came out for the bolt and the unofficial 1.1.1 did as well
 
Its easy:
1)twrp makes recovery
2)guy on rootz ports it to TB
3)twrp adds official port(link in 1st post)
4)rootz guy syncs his port up with official

So if you download from rootz thread its unofficial. If you download from twrps site,its official :-)
 
I realize that part but the fact that they are pretty much named the same and function differently is where I am thinking it is getting confusing

do they function differently? it was my impression that they have been synced up,so the menu options,etc. should be the same. only differences are the touch scrolling,and the fact that the port may be more likely to have bugs than the official version. but that could be wrong :p
 
Honestly I haven't compared the two that closely, reading from different forums it sounds like the unofficial version has features the official release does not.

I would assume the opposite. The unofficial has had more soak time on the bolt.

I am going to wait...the unofficial works for sure.

if youre talking about 1.03,then yes... but 1.1.1 is not any longer than the official.

sounds like there are some issues with unofficial 1.1.1.

Yeah, I meant 1.03. The speed would be nice, but not as nice as working properly ;)

My experience is that these things always take a release or two to settle down. I can wait. Recoveries are not all that exciting anyway.
 
1.1.1 worked for me a few times. Haven't tried the unofficial version yet but will this weekend. I can always redo everything, no biggie, but I'm sure it will work. Only a couple of people said it failed them.
 
The issue I saw people reporting was not being able to restore backups made with the unofficial 1.1.1

Ouch, that's not good. I'm going to log onto the irc chan and find out what's going on. I need a good recovery this weekend.

edit: well they have a group over there working on twrp some of which only have one phone. There is no real way to discuss it since the guy who tests the TB wasn't there. There was some issue regarding ext3/ext4 which is beyond me. Seems the only thing rbox did was put in scrolling and touch support to the "official" 1.1.1 so I'm at a loss here. If it weren't for Tib I'd be extremely worried in using this at all. They are all knowledgeable but the support is all over the place.
