Official - Virgin Mobile USA to use Sprint WiMax 4G

The LG Thrill isn't called the LG Thrill 3D... I think the Evo 3D is the only 3D phones that has 3D in it's name... That and there aren't many 3D phones anyways... Maybe they shoulda called it the Evo 3D V or something...

That almost sounds like an STD rofl. :p :D

Well you know what they say... if it's on the internet it must be true. NOT.

Weak. Your post managed to be both rude and unfriendly while doing nothing to advance the discussion by providing references or quoting sources.

If you don't think it's appropriate for us to discuss things we've read on the Internet, what exactly do you think are appropriate information sources worthy of discussion? Phone specs that came to us in a dream? Things about VM USA terms and conditions that you heard from some guy on the subway?

thebrycee was right to say "who the hell knows what's real and what isn't anymore lol?" Sprint contacted more than one media outlet yesterday to clarify that information in the press release regarding 4G data caps was wrong. Giving us a hard time for trying to figure out these things is lame, especially when not even Sprint itself seems to know what is going on.

If you think my post is rude report it then. And I'm just saying you shouldn't always trust 3rd party sites. If it's on VM's site I would belive it more than a 3rd party site. Sorry if it came off as being rude, but just because a 3rd party site is saying false information even if you don't know if it is I personally wouldn't believe it. Again sorry if you thought that was rude I wasn't trying to be rude. :/. The fact is all it is, is a rebranded evo 3D for VM instead of sprint so I doubt they would go through more trouble to take features away anyways.

The article posted on the Verge on 5/8.

The article was later updated to say the phone would have a 3D screen. I've added a note to my original post regarding that.

Not taking sides here, so don't shoot me lol... in all fairness, the article didn't state it as fact. They just said "It looks like", which to me meant they were just guessing based on photos or hearsay. I've always felt it best to read those things with a grain of salt and just wait for more official announcments (but that's just me). Especially when the article in question does not link to official statements to back up all of what they say. :)

That's what I said, it's best to just sit back and wait until we get better clarification. This totally got outta hand lol

Soft capped or not, I don't go over 2.5 GB in any case so it's no biggy.

All,

Your enthusiasm and passion for what you want to talk about is noted, however please refrain from any name calling or disrespect to other members.

Appreciate your understanding.

I just called a VM rep and asked if I could use my EVO from Sprint on VM instead of buying essentially the same phone. The rep said no- that is very frustrating/ disappointing seeing how the Sprint EVO and VM EVO are almost identical and use the network.
I'm sure they want to sell you the phone and make some upfront money. Plus they would probably have to flash it to the specifications used by VM on the Sprint network.

VM has never supported flashing a phone to their network, this isn't any different.

Plus the only networks that will flash your phone is Cricket and maybe boost (I don't know for sure. people say you can whether it's legal or not I'm not sure). Sprint, VM, and Verizon won't flash your phone and it is against the law to bring a phone from a different company onto their networks...

I should not have made a judgement about rudeness. That was not helpful and I apologize.

Instead of being a whiner about it, I should have said that I felt it was not appropriate for you to reprimand others for believing what they've read on third party sites where there is no official information available. VM USA has released nothing (*that I can find*) which confirms that the screen is 3D. The press release available on the VM USA site just says "4.3-inch qHD touchscreen" and nothing else. (I agree that it most likely IS a 3D screen, FWIW.)

Third party sites are all we've got to go on regarding that particular specification. Please don't bust our chops for discussing something that you yourself can not confirm (because no one can, because the info does not yet exist on VM USA's site).

As I've said before in other posts, ultimately, this confusion is all the fault of Sprint/VM USA marketing. They've got a track record of putting information out there before they've got a handle on all the issues, so confusion, corrections and updates are standard operating procedure. Based on all the goof ups, you'd think this was the first time they'd ever had a rate increase or a new phone hit the market. I'm sure that we'll eventually see a Sprint press release that says the new Samsung iPhone 5 runs on Windows Phone 8 with the Sense 5 skin.

It was made known on the first day that the news sites got a hold of the official Sprint Press Release that the HTC Evo V 4G is a rebrand of the HTC Evo 3D, which can be found on the official HTC web site. Many have posted the link to the press release in several of the threads here, and more than once in some. I know I've posted it a few times myself.

The VMU page says "Mobile Hotspot, Connect Up To 5 Wi-Fi Devices" under the HTC Evo. Does anyone know how much the tethering capability will cost? I assume since they blocked it on current phones, they will not be offering it for free.

$15/month and your data limit increases to 3.5 gigs a month

Thanks! I assume you mean they will raise the throttle threshold to 3.5gb, right? Will it still be unlimited for phone use and tethering, albeit throttled? Even slow unlimited service plus tethering at $50 would be an absolute deal, and more so when I live .5 miles or so from a Clear WiMax tower.

Yes to all
