Offline maps for gps

I am getting tired of getting lost while not having a data connection. Can anyone recommend an app for offline map/GPS use?

These are the two I'm playing with in anticipation of a trip to Europe (where my CDMA phone won't get data, but I can use GPS). Mapdroid is just your location on a map. Seems to do the basics: show where you are on a map. No directions, search, etc.

Co-Pilot is a nav app with on-board maps.

Any others I (we) should look at?
 
I like Locus Free (Menion.Asamm). Make sure to visit the developer's website and read the Blog page (developer) especially the Map Problems since 1.0, Map - Terms of Use and My maps Support. Also, checkout the other Blogs on how to use the app as well as the Manual, FAQ & Info, etc. sections. Once you have created and saved offline maps on your SD card, you can turn on GPS (works with GPS, not wireless networks) and use it to navigate around your area. You can record your tracks so you can start it from your hotel and use it while you tour around and know where you're at and how to return back to your starting point.
 
If you're talking US road maps, CoPilot Live is a good choice; they issue monthly map updates, and promise to respond to user-reported errors/omissions within 45 days.

Can you clarify the usage? Are you looking for a nav app to use while driving? An app to use while hiking/offroading/etc?
 
CoPilot 8 or Sygic Mobile Maps 10 - Aura seems functionaly broken eg it doesn't allow third part POIS - or at it least it never used to.

Seconded; I've been using CoPilot on WinMo since version 6; it's by far the best solution for the US market. Monthly map updates can be installed via WiFi or downloaded from your PC, so no use of cellular data is ever required unless you want traffic reporting.
 
I purchased the co pilot app and went to instal it on my X. I'm getting an error that says the maps are not compatible. Now what?
 
Any idea why the UK/Ireland version of CoPilot is so much more expensive than the USA versioon? Cost of the source maps maybe?
 
Wondered that myself. Rushed off to look for it in the market when someone metioned on another thread that it was $5 onl to find that it was more than
