Offline Route Calculation App Suggestions?

I'm reposting this here since it's a more general subforum.

I'm looking for a solid GPS app that stores all the maps offline on the SD card *and* does route calculation without needing to ask a server for the best route. Money is no object, but I'd prefer a solution that doesn't have recurring fees. I've tried looking around but it's hard to tell which app has the most up-to-date maps as I live in an area with frequent road changes (Northern Virginia). Also, of course, some apps just don't seem to be active anymore and haven't gotten an update for a long time. I live in an area with spotty 3g/4g, especially in cities like Herndon, so offline navigation would be invaluable especially if I have to deviate from a pre-calculated route.

So far, it seems like the possibilities are CoPilot, Sygic, AndNav2, and NDrive among others. My one qualm with CoPilot that I've read about so far is that they are currently having license activation issues. Also, I would really like an app that's similar in feel to Garmin because that is what I'm used to using.

I must admit, I never liked Garmin UI. Sure, the maps and POIs were good, but the UI was terrible.

I've used nDrive and Sygic Mobile Maps - both are fast and have good maps in Europe (not sure how up-to-date are the maps for US). Currently using Sygic Aura with 3D buildings.
Also, the short demos of Navigon and Copilot that I've seen were quite good.

The main thing I like on the Garmin is that the maps are very readable. I agree that the UI is confusing to navigate when I'm looking for a specific setting.

Anyone else? Most of the reviews I've been finding are from 2009, and I don't want to shell out $50 unless I know an app is worth it. If someone in the Greater DC/Maryland/Virginia area knows what is most reliable that would be a big plus. :)

I ended up buying NDrive because it's better looking than Sygic, has tons of great reviews, and they actually came out with a new version recently (11). Hopefully it's worth it. :)

So far I'm loving it except for two things. They don't have TTS yet, so I'm out of luck if I want to know what street to look for. I can't exactly pay attention to my cellphone while driving. The other thing I miss from my Garmin is the ding sound before every instruction. I mentioned both of these to NDrive support, and they said that they are definitely working on TTS for Android and they'll take into consideration the other option as well.
