Help OG hotspot not working

Hi, I recently got a LG optimus g phone to create a wireless hotspot as my primary internet source for my PC. it does not work! I have no clue what im missing here! I have ATT data plan and hotspot plan; not doing anything fancy

details:
-my wife has a pantech burst that works just fine. turn on the wifi, I can connect both her laptop and my pc. We are on the same data plan.
-I can browse internet on my LG phone
-I can usb tether my phone to my pc and connect to the internet
-if I turn on my hotspot, the phone sees my PC connect. my PC sees the signal, but does not go out to internet.
-if I try and connect to the internet on my phone with my wifes PC it crashes with a blue screen of death.

-is it possible they are broadcasting on different channels? if so can I change the broadcast channel on my LG???



any thoughs? please help??
 
Honestly, I don't know anything about the hotspot capability, but this sounds like PC issues, especially the blue screen. If you can't connect, then the PC shouldn't see the hot spot, and should only act as if there is nothing there.

As far as the PC that connects but won't get to the internet, I wonder if you may need to refresh the IP connection in order to get the right gateway info etc...

When you connect to the two different hotspots (each phone) is the name of the wireless network the same or different? If they are the same, there could be an issue of some other setting being different, but the PC not looking for a difference because they share the same name.

Can you rename the hotspot? If so, make sure they are different and see if that helps the situation.

yea, I looked at the sprint faqs and what not, havent seen anything that I havent tried unfortunately....

the names of the two wireless connections are different. and with different passwords. also tried to open the security on my phone. have tried to rename my phones hotspot a couple times too... gaaa

I tried to play with my tcp\ip settings last night. found a couple check boxes that I thought were going to do the trick, but no such luck...

I think the blue screen is a driver issue, but havent had a chance to update. will try that next...
