Step 1: Ordered phone (MDM) from amazon wireless (I've had success with time in the past) - should be here 11APR

Step 2: Root

Step 3: Back it up (so I can roll it back for updates)

Step 4: Freeze the bloat

Step 5: Enjoy!!! :D

Questions:

1. Is this the "right" order in which to do things?

2. Is there a list of apps that can be safely frozen without impacting phone functionality? Or, failing that, is there a description somewhere of the function of all/most the apps installed on the stock phone so I can make my own decisions?

TIA

Looks good to me. Although you forgot
8. Profit!!!

You might also want to consider installing a ROM after you root and backup, but.that's optional and entirely up to you. I'm rooted on the stock software and don't feel any need to change it (although I have been considering going to the recent ICS leak).

I was thinking stock with bloat frozen. Thanks for your thoughts about the stock ROM.

The move to ICS ROM will happen once ICS is released and the devs have chance to fix it the way it should have been released :)
