Help OK Google acknowledgement tone

PattiCakeUS

I have a Nexus 5X running Nougat. I only use the "OK Google" voice controls periodically, and yesterday may have been the first time since upgrading to Nougat a few weeks ago.

Now, when I say "OK Google" - I'm not getting the acknowledgement "ding" so I know she's listening. There used to be an audible indicator, now there's not.

Is there a setting somewhere for this? I've poked around a bit but I don't know quite what I'm looking for, or if it's even a setting.

My volumes are set to high. I get a slight vibration when I say OK Google, but no ding. I've looked under settings for the phone & settings for Google, but I'm not seeing a setting for this.

I assume I'm just not looking in the right place?

I just asked someone else with an Android phone to compare settings; he's not on Nougat but his tone no longer works either.

He's on a Note 5 with Sprint, on Marshmallow.

Now I'm really confused.

I'm running Android 5.1.1 on an LG L62Vl. I've got the same problem. I think when I activated the phone about a month ago, I had the tone......but now....not. Same as you.......get a little vibration...no tone. I've been through all of the settings with no luck....think it may be a system setting.

A note, when I use the microphone speak option in Messaging (Text) I get the tone??? Please post any resolution you may fine, as will I. This is apparently a systemic thing.

Same behaviour for my Nexus 5, with Marshmallow. Don't know when it changed.

Google App updated September 14, 2016.
They must have broken something.
I have the app but never set it up/ used it.

I submitted a ticket thru Google Fi (I know it's not really a Fi issue, but figured it was a place to start, since they're usually pretty responsive) - first I got an email saying they could definitely help, but suggested I check the settings in the Google app & turned on Notifications there. LOL.

I replied that I had checked, & there was no setting there for this. Less than an hour later I got this reply:
"Sorry we're not able to resolve the issue. There is a way to submit feedback to our Android engineering team.

The acknowledgement tone(s) mysteriously started working again yesterday evening (Oct 14) I have done absolutely nothing with volume changes, Google apps, etc. It can only be Android updates that are affecting this. I'm keeping my
fingers crossed that Google won't strike again for Halloween.
