"Ok Google" from any screen disappeared

S voice works from any screen even the lock screen! I say 'hi galaxy' but you can set whatever you like to say!

I have a T-Moble 64Gb S6 (not edge) and yesterday the "OK Google" stopped working even on the screen with the Goggle widget installed. Also I get a notification to "Select Keyboard". When I select this, I get a "Select keyboard" screen that has "Samsung keyboard" selected and "Google voice typing" as a selection. If I tap on the "Google voice typing" option, the voice option is NOT selected. I have Google voice setup to allow "Ok Google" detection. Also the Samsung keyboard does NOT have the microphone option available. This is really frustrating me as I have not found another keyboard to install that has the number row like the Samsung keyboard does.

Ok my Samsung does have the microfine if long pressed the smiley next to the sym button...and in setting's ı can select the okay Google option but only from the Google app...ı have s6 64gb flat also.

For s voice go to the app svoice and you can set it to start from any screen using your own installed command. It works great.

I' got tired to working with a crippled phone, so decided to do something about it. I did a little research on the internet and found a workaround. It involves dumping the Touch Wiz launcher. And, since neither Google nor Samsung will acknowledge this as I problem, I was NOT about to use the Google Now Launcher. Therefor, I have now installed and configured the Nova Launcher and now have "Ok Google" working from all pages!

Nova is the way to go!

I have had two Android phones and with a hand disability use voice technology a lot. I now have an S6. What can happen is that apps associated with voice can take over control of the device's microphone. So on my S6 I am able to use voice search for Google as follows and it works from every screen.

Firstly, I enable the Galaxy S6 S Voice app built in and this should prompt you to give your device a name. For example if you give your device a name and wake up voice command you can say:
''Hello [NAME OF DEVICE]''
Then your S6 comes to life with an audio waveform prompt at the bottom for S Voice. Then you can say:
"Ask Google"
A voice will ask you what you want to search for and you say your search terms.
You can skip the wake up voice stage if you want and just open S Voice from your Home Screen.
I use S Voice for many apps as follows:
''Hello [NAME OF DEVICE], Make call to [FRIEND'S NAME]"

''Hello [NAME OF DEVICE], OPEN Google Maps App"

''Hello [NAME OF DEVICE], Text Husband" then you are prompted to dictate, and affirm and send a text all by voice.
''Hello [NAME OF DEVICE], open [NAME OF APP] and will search within the app for anything from text in a book to name in Contacts. I know this doesn't explain why OK Google stopped working but S Voice can do the same and more and the OP has the S6 Edge.

I avoid downloading any apps with built in voice recorder because they and certain keyboards can hijack the microphone and disable connections to it from other apps like Google Voice. You might find since set up that the built-in S Voice app on the Galaxy S6 overrides any other connections to the microphone.

"OK Google" working! Had the same issue as everyone else on my S6 Edge. Have to make sure S-Voice is enabled, AND have to make sure "Voice wake-up" and "Wake up in secured lock" are both turned OFF in S-Voice settings. Hope this works for everybody!

I have the S6 and I cant get "OK Google" to work from ANY screen, even when Google Now is open. I'm even using the Google Now Launcher. I've tried all of the suggestions posted here so far with no success.
