Help OK Google not working properly

OK Google hasn't been working properly since the recent updates. It generally won't respond to voice commands until I open the Google app, and even then it only works for a short time after I close the app. Does anyone have a solution for this? I much prefer OK Google over Bixby.

sometimes bixby steals the show denies ok google

try 2 things too
uninstall google app update, then update again.set voice, go, and or signup for google app beta.... go to playstore see google app tick 3 dots to right opt in beta.
lastly.........i took to best buy and reflashed firmware for free, no more issues.

Thank you, Bayfisher. OK Google is workoing okay now but if it gets worse I will do what you suggest.

ALSO if youre on att. its getting an update now.
