OK, I'm a newbie

Just got my HTC Evo 4G and I'm shakey. I'm a geezer (63 yrs old) and a tecchie, but losing the palm/windows feel has me off center. But it's only one day and I'm starting to get it.

To show how little I know: the salesman warned me not to use the PALM or other aftermarket charger with the Evo G. Was he just trying to make a sale or was this sound advice.

And . . . I don't know why I would want an HDMI cable. See, I'm really green!
