Help Okay, so heres my problem.

I know I'm new to the forums, so please easy on the flaming.
I've tried searching...but I haven't got a correct answer.

I got a G1 unlocked and I have it running on At&t/Cingular

Now my question/problem is this...
Like most I don't have unlimited data..so EDGE/GPRS internet is out of the question...so WIFI is my all I need to download apps...etc...

I have my APN settings up and running...AWESOME!
I recieve MMS and be able to send...AWESOME!

Now ok...is it possible to DISABLE internet usage (I've heard even though your not browsing the G1 still connects to the internet EDGE/GPRS with out the users knowledge) while still be able to recieve MMS and able to send MMS' out??



ps. I have that app that you can disable edge and enable with a touch of a button, but...I JUST WANT INTERNET DISABLED (browsing...market...gmail etc) but still be able to recieve MMS without hesitation..

Kinda like how other phones ASK YOU TO CONNECT to the internet before it actually does, BUT...while you are still able to receive MMS? I've also tried to edit the APN and blank the username and pw...I've seen topics when you leave that blank you'll block data usage but still able to receive mms, but I've tried it and it still connected to EDGE..

confusing? I know..sorry but I think thats the best way to explain my problem...THANKS!

Maaaybe APNdroid is what you need? It will en/disable your APN settings which effectively block all Internet access ... but I don't know if that also disables MMS (SMS should still work, though). Give it a try?

Put the phone in Airplane Mode and all radios will be turned off ... but the phone will function as otherwise as long as no data connection is needed ...

Wouldnt this also kill the in/out going phone calls?

Yes ... but you at least know you arent roaming !!
