Old Asus EEE 701 to Android ?

Newbie
Like a few million other folks I have an old Asus EEE 701 that is gathering dust. After some messing I managed to load Ubuntu 10.4 but it takes up too much memory (device has only 4gb) Has anyone successfully loaded a recent version of Android with any success? Hopefully it will give it a new lease of life.

Any resources or guidance with this would be much appreciated

Thanks

I'd check some eee specific sites. I believe that there was one floating about in the region of eeeusers(dot)com (don't wanna link to it incase that's not actually it). I went their for my 1005HA when I had a few issues. I would bet they could sort you out.

Also, may I suggest either puppy linux or DamnSmallLinux. They are both (you guessed it!) small distros. When I used puppy it loaded from Disc (700MB but really less than 100MB) to RAM. Ran the whole OS from ram, which was pretty impressive. There are install scripts for it too, so if you want it installed.

Sorry, I don't have anything specific about putting android on it, though I do recall reading about a netbook that came with a modified linux *and* android on it....
