old e mails recurring as new again

I looked at several threads, but could not find where this was discussed.
I am periodically getting old e mails as new. This happens a few times a day, and they are dated for 2, 3, 4 days ago. I did get them back when I should have, and have read and deleted them. My settings say to leave it on the server so that I can still get them on my office computer. I use outlook and have those settings to leave on server for 33 days.
1 800 Verizon told me I had to update the software, which I did. A walk in tech center told me to remove and re install the accounts, which I did. Neither one of these works. Does anyone have any idea how I can stop this? I feel it is unsafe for me to remove them from the server when I delete them. I don

Hello bogiedogie.

The recurring email glitch is not necessarily a device issue (but can be). It is most often an issue with Google/Gmail, or whichever server is involved (Gmail is famous for this).

One remedy is to use your computer to go online to the email account(s) with the issue and clear out old received emails by either trashing them or placing them in special folders, such as "saved," created by you. Moving them seems to make them not available for that re-send glitch.

It's too bad about Verizon (and other carriers) floor reps and techs; most of them are largely uneducated, low paid employees who basically repeat rumors, what they've heard somebody else say, or guess, but are not trained in support matters beyond that and perhaps when to send a customer "upstream" to a manager or their boss.

thank you very much for that thought. right now it is not frequent enough for me to mess with it on my computer. they are easily recognized and I delete the 3 or 4 per days that I get. The server involved comcast. I just switched from blackberry and I did not have the same problem. so I expect a device or software issue.

thanks again for your help.
