Let the lurking commence!

I'm about to root and unlock my Samsung i897.

I recently upgraded to GB and all of the sudden performance sucked arse. Just had ATT flash it back to stock and upgrade it for me. I figure while it is clean of apps now, this is a great time to do a little tinkering under the hood.

Any recommendation for root-jailbreak software?

Any recommendation towards putting ICS on it?

I did upgrade and put in an 8gb card with the hopes of keeping the apps on the card and not on the main memory. The idea is that the main memory is for OS and running apps. Good idea?

Holy cow! I've been reading on here and a few other forums. My head is full - and I have no idea what I'm looking at.
