On call options for Android?

I need a suggestion to a whole solution that works for someone like me that's on a rotation on-call schedule at work. The way our on-call works is if the helpdesk receives a high priority ticket for our group, they make a "P2" ticket. The helpdesk system then pages out to who's oncall to their e-mail address. Everyone in the helpdesk system has an oncall phone number. I just put in my cell number. Then I use Klaxon app so when texts come in from the helpdesk, it constantly pages until I acknowledge it.

It works pretty good. But there are problems with it. Some reason it seems like every few days, I'll check what apps are running in the background and notice Klaxon isn't running. If the app closes when I don't notice, I could miss a page. I'd like to know why it keeps crashing in the background. I have a Motorola Droid Maxx phone.

Another problem I have is to make sure Klaxon alerts me at night, I have to put my volume all the way up on my phone. So, it startles me for every single e-mail or alert. Only the pages go off non-stop. But usually every alert wakes me up.

I do see that Klaxon has a preference to use alarm volume instead of phone volume. But I also run sound profiles and there is no option to adjust the alarm volume. It's the first day of me trying this. So hopefully muting my sounds won't touch the alarm volume seeing it's not an option in the sound profiles.

What would be nice is to figure out how my co-worker is doing what he's doing. (My work doesn't like to share info. He's figured out a way to make what he does work but he figured it out and it's his...)

But I know he puts a different number in the helpdesk system as his pager number. It's a 3rd party service that then routes back to his phone and his phone is set to alarm loud only for messages that come from that 3rd party service. But everything I find costs like $10 a month for it, and I don't know if I feel like paying $10 a month for a service.

So, I was hoping someone had a solution that was 100% perfected to go off loud and constant for e-mails from a few different sources. But every other e-mail, text, alarm, etc. is 100% quiet all night.

Is it crashing, or is Android FCing it because it needs the RAM space? (That's how Android works.) If you have something calling Klaxon when the call comes in, Android will load it back when it's needed.

If it's crashing, contact the developer - and use a REALLY loud (and long) ringtone instead. You can edit a ringtone to be so loud it distorts like crazy (something you can't ignore unless you're deaf) and if you copy and paste to make the tone about 10 minutes long, you should notice it. (Audacity, running in Windows, will do the job, and it's free.) An A-oo-gah horn should wake you up if it's loud enough and keeps repeating. (Put "aooga" into Zedge and you'll get 11 of the most annoying notifications you've ever heard.)

Tasker makes that simple. Turn the ringtone volume to 0 at night. If a call comes in from that number, turn the ringtone volume up all the way. (Do the same with your alarm volume, media volume - everything to 0 at night.)

I do see that Klaxon has a preference to use alarm volume instead of phone volume. But I also run sound profiles and there is no option to adjust the alarm volume. Alarm and ringtone volume are now linked. (There are apps that can unlink them, but if you turn the ringtone volume control down, you're turning alarm volume down too. Tasker handles them separately.)

Tasker costs $3. Once. And it might take you a day or two watching youtube videos to figure out how to write the task if you've never written any computer code. Then you can look at your co-worker and say, "$10/month, huh? What a waste of money.")

I mean, Tasker would be worth the $3 just for this one task. But this is almost as trivial a task as you can do in it. When I get home my wifi turns on, my screen unlocks (if I hit the power switch I'm on the homescreen, no swiping), my volumes are turned down a lot (it's quiet here). And even that's a trivial task. Run Maps (I'm new to this town so I use the GPS a lot) and - oops, I used to forget to turn GPS and mobile data on. No more. Tasker sees Maps coming up and turns them on for me. (And turns them off when I close Maps.) The phone goes to vibrate mode when I'm in any of my doctors' offices, and back to loud ringing when I leave (it's noisy when the car windows are open).

And I've only been playing with it for a couple of days. Google should buy it and include it in Android.
