Help On screen buttons

Hi Guys,

Okay, first time Android user here so go easy on me.

Just got the Nexus S, and I have a question:

2 screens to the right there are 5 buttons displayed at the top of the screen. One to toggle wifi, toggle bluetooth, toggle GPS (I think), and one to toggle brightness. The other one (button second from the right) is a circle made up of two arrows. I assume this is to turn synchronisation on off. Is this correct?

If so, where do you control this (frequency, conditions etc...)?

Thanks in advance

Chris
