Root On screen KB on Sholes 2.0.3 is slooooow!!

I usually use the OS KB and man is it slow with this rom! Anyone experiencing this? With so many Sholes issues lately been wondering if I should switch to BB. Sholes has worked good on my unit minus the KB lagggggg. If I want to switch to BB,do I DL the ...what is it,.tgz file rom of BB latest?...and put it in root and then go to recovery and select that rom and install? Is that about it?
 
Every overclock ROM without the latest kernel fixes by steve has these issues.

The ones that don't: Sholes 2.0.5 and up, Beast 0.7.6 and up, and some others.
